Always good to see Shaky doing well! Maybe helped slightly this week by the Black Friday re-issue of the 12" single.

Do you guys think that Mariah will be #1 at all this year?

I hope not. Her and Wham! have had their turns at #1. I hope the Pogues get a turn at the top next

I think Mariah will be number 1 at some point. Actually I don't know, especially with the new Ed/Elton song coming. But AIWFC is just always everywhere. It's irritating, I know; but it has a huge chance. I like the song but it's getting too much lol

It always happens to Xmas songs like Slade and the Pogues used to be the ones everywhere and have faded a bit but I guess that is because of the world wide nature of streaming dictating American focused Xmas hits on the rest!

In answer to your question it depends what Ed/Eltons streams are like for the new song, could be huge but could be average like most of his new tracks since ‘Bad Habits’!

Given that Marian’s #6 without any of the weekend streaming factored in and with that and the 1 Dec boost to come, I think she could end up at #2.

Isn't most Saturday streaming apart from Spotify factored into the First Update? It's just Spotify (which has highest share admittedly) with their ridiculous 1 day delay reporting of their streaming which holds the charts to ransom.

for what I understand the usual is that the first Update on Sunday has streams from Amazon for Fri & Sat

but for Spotify and Apple it's only Friday

Ah so Apple as well is missing - yep that's hardly any streaming then.
Oh great the same Christmas songs taking over, that will kill my interest in the charts for the next 5 weeks.

Jesus Christ people it's only a month every year, get over it. Not gonna read these complaints year after year after year.

There's absolutely nothing wrong in starting to feeling Christmassy now, especially when pandemic getting worse again.

Also stream Love for Sale, it brings the holiday mood too.

There are many good fresh Christmas songs.

Poor "Christmas Tree Farm" and "Cozy Little Christmas" deserved to be at least top 10 hits, but became flops.

Dear OCC, please don't count any streaming points for Mariah, Wham, Pogues e.t.c. in the official chart.

At least UK have ACR, the other countries doomed to have "All I Want For Christmas Is You" at # 1 every year.

I suppose the Christmas playlists and the order that they are in are the most obvious cases of other people dictacting the charts (especially if you include the Amazon exclusives) as people listen completely passively to them. Doubt people in the UK would seek out Bobby Helms otherwise.

That is quite a long time though. It’s at least 5 weeks a year where the chart is completely dominated by Christmas music.

Over a decade, it’s basically a whole years worth of charts that are dedicated to just the same Christmas songs.

Its streaming for u! When sheeran or adele conquer the chart for 10-15 weeks every year its worse

Bit pointless isn't it?

Its a vicious circle because if the old xmas songs are in the charts then the radios and streaming playlists will have them in heavy rotation or at the top of Christmas playlists.

Just think if the OCC made any song over 5 years old not eligable to chart then newer Christmas songs would chart higher, thus radios would play them more and playlists put them higher up. It needs to start with the OCC though to help newer Christmas songs.

It's not even Christmas songs being in the chart its the same stale 10 Christmas songs being in the chart year after year. Think how exciting and interesting it would be if we had a new set of Christmas songs every year or 2 in the charts getting airplay and streams.
