so last year we got some resets midweek and some resets by the end of the week?

I think last year they all took effect before the midweeks, but since then the rules have changed to make automatic resets instantaneous and just not show up until the end of the week. Basically I don't think anyone (other than those close to the OCC) really knows what they'll do this year

No, they all happened at the start of the week

I'll type the update up shortly if another chart mod isn't on the case, I only just got back from work!

Looks like this will be the first Top 100 where everything's going up. Last year the only faller was Griff - Love Is A Compass. Also the first time the entire Top 10 has been replaced.

I was expecting Adele to reclaim the album Number 1 and Abba to drop.

Sales will likely show little between Ed Sheeran and Adele.

Very active singles chart as expected this week with many songs achieving much deserved new peaks.

Ardee... where's my vomit icon?
Surprised to see 5 tracks from the Encanto soundtrack currently. Guessing two of these will be started out by Friday unless the rules around soundtrack songs have changed since the greatest showman came out?

This update really is something else, isn't it.

Especially loving...

Sam Fender at No.2

Bieber's Ghost in the Top 20

and Mr Brightside - AKA The Best Song EVER!!!! - in the Top 40!!

I guess the difference now is that Encanto can only chart as a compilation album so its tracks are considered to be by different artist entities, whereas TGS at its peak was allowed in the main album chart.

I think when Black Panther was released more than 3 charted in the singles chart

Yeah this is correct!

So is this the first time the number 1 drops completely out of the chart the next week or did wham do it last year

Wham did it first. I’m not 100% sure Merry Christmas actually would have gone 1-OUT if it weren’t been greyed out by the three-track rule tbh with it been a new track.

Yeh it was top 30 on iTunes yday when I last checked and was still doing 100k streams daily on Spotify from yesterdays update. Hope they update where it would have been on Fridays sales thread!

Ah that makes sense, thanks! Good news I guess for most of the tracks. Couldn't imagine a few of the tracks ever charting if ACR held them off for 9-10 weeks.

I wonder if this means that it would now be possible for 4+ songs from The Greatest Showman to chart at once if for some reason they all had a big enough resurgence...

Surprising to see 'Peru' still as low as #8 after being the second highest non-Xmas song last week, I know its lack of Amazon presence didn't help for First Look but with it still being this low as late as Tuesday it looks like it is probably falling down the ranks a bit for real (unless there's absolutely nothing in it sales wise between #2 and #8).
