February 17, 20223 yr I honestly don’t understand why people blame Ed Sheeran for his chart success. He isn’t holding a gun to anyone’s head saying ‘buy my music’’ the simple fact is, he has fans who like his music and buy and stream it. Why is that a bad thing? Any artist can do the same as Ed and knock out 99p signed singles but do not have the fanbase or interest to sell them in quantity, people buy, download and stream what they like. The Ed bashing is beyond boring now on here - it’s good to have a discussion but not one that goes on for 6 months covering the same topic :lol:

The same people bleating ad nauseam about how he is "ruining the charts" and in cahoots with the chart compilers when what they actually mean is that they personally don'r like his music. They come across like a bunch of crying pre-schoolers.

Most remixes released this late don't do much to affect the sales, let alone 25% increase. Honestly Bad Habits has sold so much already I can't imagine it's going to have much of an impact. The fact this is a week and a half after the BRITS performance means any hype it could've picked up has faded.

If it was before then why didn't they make it available straightaway? And if it was after, they've done well to get a studio session booked in, get it recorded, mixed and ready for release in just a few days!

They posted a video of them in the studio on TikTok the day after the Brits performance, so I imagine it would have been recorded before! I can only guess they didn’t release it last week as to not compete with ‘TJATQ’ remix.

February 17, 20223 yr Back in the 90s, when Madonna released a single (let's say from Ray of Light) post album, it would usually be a remix or a radio edit. She would usually bang out two CD singles, a cassette single, vinyl, picture discs. I bought them all. And she made the Top 10 with all five of the singles that came out. I can't remember anyone complaining that she was rigging the charts... everyone did it. Isn't that what Ed Sheeran is doing now? But whilst we're on the subject... The Joker and The Queen isn't a good track and when I listened to the album I hoped it wouldn't be released as a single, but kind of knew that it would be. So in a way, I'm glad it's not smashing in the way his others have. Edited February 17, 20223 yr by CJK
February 17, 20223 yr Yeh true it’s I always get confused with the Dizzee/Florence release from over a decade ago but it was a different song once combined. That was a little different because it was a mashup of 2 different existing songs, not just a remix of the Florence track.
