Well well — fancy seeing you here.

The results for Nuggets Fourteen will start tonight at 7:30pm (GMT) and by the end of the night, we'll have a brand new inductee into the Nuggets hall of fame.
Thank you to everyone for joining in and voting over the last few weeks — also a huge thank you to anyone who had to deal with my incessant requests for song commentary.

Here is a reminder of all the entries competing tonight.

I've not followed nuggets in years. I might tune in later to see how it goes.
Probably a post-rock winner and could well be BRUIT, although I feel 'Zombified' might do well among the harder songs.
Going to throw Cellar Darling into the ring as a potential winner!

Oh yeah they have to be worth a shout too. Eluveitie descendants are stronk *. (also it's an improvement on their initial songs after splitting from Eluveitie, though I haven't listened to 'Avalanche' for ages and it's sounding pretty good now so perhaps always good)

I have to say I was very surprised at the entries,

my concept of indie/rock/alt guitar songs is some Irish troubadour singing with an acoustic guitar

not heavy metal like 80% of the entires were :D amazed people are into that to be honest but alas...

I see now this was not really for me :D

glad we could enlighten you bjork

based on music lovers I talk to outside of here, heavy song love abounds - also metal is a really interesting set of genres well worth exploring. this very contest had loads of different post-rock, prog-rock, goth metal, glam metal, pop punk, sadly no death metal though, we should fix that.

that's not to say acoustic and alt-folk isn't welcome in Nuggets and actually IIRC it dominated the earlier editions, but I've always viewed this as a safe space for people to go guitar-crazy and I often find such strumming a tad boring, with head-banging a much preferred preference.

I might decide to put something heavier in for the next one. I've kept my entries very light so far but may ramp it up next time. Mind you I'll probably go too far the other way if the polished and glossy entries in this round is anything to go by

The winner of the last contest was about as far as you can get away from heavy metal tbf...

Either Cellar Darling or BRUIT ≤ would make for fantastic winners so hopefully people are along the right lines there. Cellar Darling was the one that jumped at me as a winning contender too.

i have a feeling I'm gonna do horrible this edition yet again but I'm just hoping that a few certain people took a liking to my song
