I believe that a 23rd straight week in the Top 10 for Peru would be the first since One Dance and a 24th would be the first since the 1950s!?!

How grim

I was expecting PM to be on course for #1 album seeing as his last two albums went to #1

It’s been clear how much worse this album has performed so far though

The fact that this forum could have collectively downloaded 21 copies of Space Man last week to prevent this from happening 😜 😂

Kate less than 5k from #1 while on ACR! Massive!

She’s still on top across all platforms today but this weeks #1 will be the same song that has already peaked in its performance. Has the system ever worked against itself so acutely before?

I don't think the OCC will view this as working against itself though - there's a reason they introduced the 3 year rule in the first place after all. It's keeping fresh music at the top of the chart while an ancient track is held off, that's why they have this rule in place.

post and ed are quite close currently in no of sales. would not be surprised if ed was #2 this week in the albums

Don't Start Now by Dua Lipa had 25 weeks in the top 10 in 2019

Fairytale Of New York has amassed 27 weeks in the top 10 since its 1987 debut

Last Christmas by Wham has amassed 31 weeks in the top 10 since 1984 as has Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi in 2019

Mariah Carey will takeover the lead of most top 10 weeks this December as All I Want For Christmas Is You has 34 at present, 1 behind Frankie Laine.

no surprises at Post Malone flopping, only on 4K so far! Even Ed is gonna catch him

It was clear from day 1 Post Malone's album was not gonna do so well as his streams were fine but nothing extraordinary, even on week 3 Harry's album tracks are doing much better than Post Malone's, so it was obvious PM was not gonna be #1 as he's not someone that sells vinyls or cassettes

Sure but none of those are consecutive like Peru

great result for Kate but sad to see that without ACR she'd be 10K ahead of Harry

Gotta love how lots of songs went on ACR are out of the top 100 yet many oldies return instead

Fantastic for Sam to be #5 and that's without today's big jump on Spotify. Also great to see LF System top 20 today too. Should climb more throughout the week.

The point of the chart is to accurately reflect what people have been buying and streaming over the past 7 days.

If people have been buying and streaming an "ancient" song as you put it more than anything else in the past 7 days, then it should be number 1regardless of age.

It's as simple as that.

Thanks for posting update but should 'Late Night Talking' and 'Sushi Restaurant' be removed from list of climbers?

I didn't say it was my point of view but that's how the OCC see it. I actually agree with you in this case - the 3 year rule is ineffective - but the OCC are clearly not fazed or they'd have changed it back when ACR was blocking Mariah from reaching the top (before she eventually managed regardless).

No, they're included as Music Week gave sales info

That's debatable though. Some would argue the chart is a promotional tool that benefits the music industry, above everything else. And in order to combine downloads and streams in one chart in the first place you need to set rules in how to measure them, and who's to say how you do that "accurately"?

For what it's worth though, I think Kate should have been reset to SCR.

I hope George can push into the top 10. If not, he should definitely do it next week

Amazing that Sam Ryder is back in the Top 5.

His website says that the CD singles will be shipping from tomorrow so hopefully they haven’t been added yet and he’ll get a further boost.
