June 12, 20223 yr It can’t have been reset, if it was going to be reset it would have been by now. Just cause they get a hammering after last week, doesn’t mean they can just go aw well we’ll need to reset it, doesn’t work like that it’s not fair. Harry should be back at #1 on tomorrow’s update and comfortably get an 11th week at the top on Friday. I don’t see how it’s any more unfair than Kate being on ACR already is? The chart is pretty fabricated these days, would one more alteration make a difference? Especially given it makes the chart more accurate for once.
June 12, 20223 yr If a song is over 3 years old it can only be reset by record company request and it must not be top 100 therefore it's not going to happen

No I agree with you, it’s mega unfair that Kate is being denied #1 by a chart rule, my point was they can’t just reset her on the basis of some comments made by the public, there surely has to be meeting and discussions by the OCC about it before they decide to reset her.

I think you’re overestimating the professionalism of the OCC. Plus maybe there have been meetings and discussions.
June 12, 20223 yr I think you’re overestimating the professionalism of the OCC. Plus maybe there have been meetings and discussions. Maybe I am and maybe there have, I just don’t think it’s possible for them to grant her a reset on the basis of the public being angry and unhappy.
June 12, 20223 yr Oo I do hope Kate has been reset. I can understand if they want to reset her now though given how amazing the song is doing globally and it is being pushed by Kate's label (It was made a current on US radio, with it currently climbing/charting on mutliple formats: Top 70 Pop, Top 50 AAA/HAC, Top 40 Alternative/AC). If she isn't reset, then I don't think she'll get to #1 until Harry goes onto ACR (which is hopefully next week). I'm hoping she'll manage multiple weeks at #1 even!
June 12, 20223 yr While I don't think it is likely that Kate has been reset, depending on your interpretation of the rules, there is a slim possibility: The rules state: i) Automatic Reset – a track within the Top 100 on ACR and which is within 3 years of release can automatically return to SCR if it’s streams total increases by 25 percentage points greater than the streaming market change week on week. For example, a track with a week on week variance of +14%, in a week where market variance is -11%, would be automatically reset. ii) Manual Reset – In exceptional circumstances, where a track is being scheduled for promotion, a label may elect to manually reset a track to SCR. This manual reset is limited to two tracks per artist album, only where the track in question is outside the Top 100 and subject to one week’s notice being given from the releasing label that they wish to implement a manual reset. Manual reset shall be strictly subject to Official Charts and/or CSC approval. Perhaps the label didn't notify the OCC until Kate re-entered at 8 (though of course in which case the first underline under manual reset should exclude it). In which case the rest wouldn't happen until this week based on the above. Though I guess it depends on the definition of one week's notice. If they notified them say on June 1st so before it charted but after it was climbing on the midweeks and the one week's notice means one chart week, then I guess this week would be when the rest was instigated.... I guess we'll have to wait until they announce the data on Monday (or they make an official statement?) before we have some degree of certainty - unless anyone else know for sure (though of course they may not be allowed to say)..
June 12, 20223 yr The thing about a song needing to be outside the top 100 to get a reset is definitely not actually enforced. See SHOUSE's 'Love Tonight' for an example, that got its reset after several weeks of charting on ACR. Kate must have either finally got a reset or got really, really far ahead on Amazon streams I guess. I don't think she'd suddenly be ahead due to downloads now if she wasn't this time last week. I think it clearly deserves to be given a reset at this stage so I hope that is the OCC giving it one.
June 13, 20223 yr On Spotify, RUTH is down 77k compared to Saturday last week. AIW is up 45k. I think AIW is not going ACR in June yet.
June 13, 20223 yr I mean As It Was will surely be overtaken organically soon even if it avoids ACR and Kate isn’t reset. I don’t think Bryan needs to worry.
June 13, 20223 yr Yes 100% she's been reset to have that much of a lead. Amazing that she will have her second #1 44 years after her first, with a song from 37 years ago! Whichever application of the OCC's rules has allowed the reset to come about, and whether this opens a can of worms around other old songs getting the same treatment, it looks like common sense has prevailed in this case.
June 13, 20223 yr Wow, really happy for Kate and it will be super interesting to see if this opens a can of worms for the OCC when previous resurgent retro hits like Three Lions haven't been reset. Maybe there will be either a rule change or a massaging of the small print to say that labels can be granted one in an extraordinary circumstance.
