I wouldn't be surprised if they released the Stranger Things remix they've been teasing next Friday either.

RUTH has finally been added to big playlists on Spotify so that should also give it a boost.

Here for RUTH to have a more than 2 weeks at #1 but would like LF System to at least squeeze a week in as well. Hopefully it doesn't drop off in momentum too much.

The way Lil Nas X tells it, it sounds simple, almost mystical. “I was just kinda bored,” he told Apple Music. “I wanted to put something up. So that’s what I did.” Not only did the “it” in question—“Old Town Road”—become a global phenomenon (and 2019 Apple Music Award winner for Song of the Year), it prompted surprisingly pertinent conversations about how we define and classify music. Was it country? Was it rap? Cowboy anthem or LGBTQ camp? TikTok novelty or legitimate pop song?

Raised by his grandmother in Baton Rogue, Louisiana, YoungBoy Never Broke Again (born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden in 1999) started recording with a Walmart-bought microphone as a teenager, writing tracks for his early mixtapes while in juvenile detention. It’s a path that would continue to cast shadows on his career. After a flurry of increasingly strong mixtapes (most notably 2017's AI YoungBoy), Gaulden made his major-label leap with 2018’s Until Death Call My Name, only to be derailed by further arrests. If something good was to come from the pandemic, it is A1 and J1. Meeting on the App Houseparty in 2020, 15-year-old A1 from North West London now based in Coventry and 17-year-old J1 from Kent started their rapping aspirations together remotely, showcasing a zeitgeist movement from the repercussions of this year. Latest Trends launched as just a 15 second tease, going viral on Tik Tok, with social media comments begging for the song to be released in full. One little question, I think you could be missing a Diplo song in his discography, Sia's Elastic Heart.

The song was released twice, in 2 different versions. The one that charted at #10 was the 2nd one, and that was solo.

But the song had been released much earlier when it missed the top 40 an that release featured The Weeknd and Diplo.

Just went now to the occ site and they do credit The Weeknd and Diplo in that first release of Elastic Heart:

I'm pretty sure I read that it is used in the film during a montage scene.

I actually quite like that Doja track, it grows on me the more I listen. It has virtually nothing to do with the Elvis track its taking inspiration from but I actually think that's a bit more interesting than a straight up Elvis cover in a different style which we've seen before.

Elastic Heart's quite a curious case and I think it's the only example I can think of where artists got removed from a credit (as opposed to being added, which is something we've definitely discussed lots of times). Elastic Heart, as you said, charted initially with the Diplo and Weeknd version, but the solo one was combined into the same entry and the credit was amended to reflect the fact that it was the solo version that was the most popular. Feels strange to remove a song from an artist's chart history though it'd feel irritatingly inconsistent to include it in Diplo's history but list it solo in Sia's! If you expand the chart run on your link, you'll see the full chart run despite it listing a peak of #61 (the position it initially re-entered at before the credit was changed the following week).
