it's always so random what becomes a tiktok thing,

great they picked a song like Everybody wants to rule the World

I noticed it's been on the Amazon top 100 for some time now, which can only be tiktok related :D

 

I am sort of expecting something like Mr Mister - Broken Wings to become the next 80s track to become big on Tiktok, was a big hit in the US originally which helps considering the global nature of TikTok, and also the lyrics are very TikTok too!

 

There are lots of early 80s new wave songs in particular I would love to become big on TikTok but a lot of them were mostly UK-only hits not in the US so are unlikely to become big on TikTok.

Someone should nominate Stargirl Interlude in the next RotD so that Lana has at least one nomination for every year - 2016 was the only one she was missing last time!

 

It was listed as a new entry yesterday as Spotify's daily top 200 listings only go back to 1 January 2017, shortly after the Starboy album was released. I see that Mr Brightside has been on the chart for 2,007 of the 2,011 days in that time - missing only 24 Dec in 2018 and 25 Dec in 2018, 2019 & 2020 (it was #192 & #199 on 25 Dec in 2017 & 2021 respectively). Blinding Lights appears to have had the longest streak of 757 days, from release up until 24 Dec 2021.
