A clean sweep of songs I didn't vote for in 41-50! Though I think 'Black Velvet' and 'Freed From Desire' were both among the very last songs I cut, I do really like both of those.

Back in the top 10, hooray. (And now dandy*'s asterisk has vanished entirely :o )

Black velvet is a fab retro swamp rock blues revival, her other stuff was nothing like it, and I continue to plummet down the listings with faves getting cruelly evicted far too early  Freed From Desire is OK, the trampolines stick in the mind so I'm a bit up and down on the track. :teresa:

Those two were both on my shortlist but couldn't make the final cut. Both great tracks, especially Freed From Desire even if it is overplayed and 'chant-ified'. Did we ever find out what a trombelese is? ;)

My lack of recent losses seeing me climbing up the voters chart lol. There is one song in particular I gave high points to that i'm pleasantly surprised has made it as far as the top 40.

Officially Buzzjack’s 2nd favourite No 2 of 1992! Slipmatt & Lime as they were otherwise known never made the top 10 again but it sneaks into the top 40 here.

My thoughts on this one have already been vented elsewhere but we can say it was a US No 1 and was their biggest hit here, check out the promo for a pre-fame Rupaul.

Love Shack is fun but their much older hit Rock Lobster is more up my street. SL2 in the top 40 :music:

On A Ragga Tip is a fantastic tune, such an earworm.

Love Shack was very close to my votes as well but missed the final cut.

Love Shack was the first single I bought, I couldn’t not give it a point

SL2 is a track I love more now then when it was released, it’s fantastic

Love Shack absolutely deserves to be an eternal classic, it's as enjoyable today as the time I first heard it, if not even better!

Love Shack peaked no 3 USA.

SL2 is better than the records holding it off the top spot, but never been a fave of mine, it's OK though.

Love Shack is bloody genius though, one of the greatest party records of all-time, sounds brilliant loud, and is even better than the brilliant Rock Lobster. I love everything theyve done, quirky, amusing, New Wave Americans from a time when there werent that many, beehives, and a lead singer with a totally unique style. I'm still amused by memories of the "tribute B52's" around this time which covered other totally unsuitable current pop songs in the style of the B52's. Hilarious! Just imagine them doing I'm Good in the style of Love Shack and it would totally work...

not crazy about those 2, don't mind them and kinda like them but both too high for me

Causing outrage in the Daily Mirror on release thanks to its instructions on how to make a spliff (in their opinion) in the inlay of the single, this replicated the peal of their previous single but that No 1 remained just beyond their reach.

The power of the remix turned this no 58 track from 1987 into a major hit by fusing together with the beat from Soul II Soul’s “Keep on Moving” into a bootleg track. So impressed were the label that they bought it from DNA rather than sue and a hit was born. Also a new rate record of 12 voters and our 3rd Favourite No 2 of 1990.

Ah finally one of my votes drops out again with 'Tom's Diner'!

'Turtle Power' and 'Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini' are an... interesting duo to be blocked from #1 by  :')

I make it 14 for me still remaining so relieved that none dropped away in todays.

I don't think I've heard either of those ones :kink:
