I've now heard it a couple of times and it's definitely not as bad as people are making out. As Jay says it's not the best song ever and it's nowhere near HER best, but it does get in your head after a couple of listens.

I've also heard it a couple of times and it really has stuck in my mind ever since, so in that respect I think its succeeded as a song! I'll happily have it in my playlist and give it some more listens.

I think on the whole it's a song that is quite typical coming from Ava. I feel like it would have slotted comfortably into Heaven and Hell. I don't hear this as some massive drop in quality compared to her catalogue as a whole, but also I don't think it's on the same level as her best singles.

I can't really decide between whether it's sensible for her to continue with the same sounds that have previously been successful for her, or if she should have tried something different for album 2. Though I can see why they've gone with the first option, not trying to fix what isn't broken... though if this single doesn't so much for her in the charts, maybe a change is needed.

I don't get the harsh reactions to this. It's very in line with her previous sound and it's getting catchier with each listen.

I do sort of agree with this though, I'd have preferred it to continue the interpolation:

My issue with the chorus is I do think the interpolation is immediate... and then it doesn't go where I expected it to

I think they could have gotten away without crediting Diane tbf, although part of me wonders if crediting her drums up a little bit of intrigue and curiosity listens, albeit in the very small confines of internet forums.

It's a bit paint by numbers Ava Max - which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I like it and think it's catchy, but a step down from "Maybe Your The Problem".

ok no more buzzjack opinions on pop music - this is probably her best single to date  (it's got the massive chorus her previous hits did but with stronger production, idk what's not to like)
Genuinely think this is great, really shocked by the reactions here! Much more memorable than Maybe You're the Problem ever was and it doesn't feel at all far removed from her usual style.

am i listening to the same song as most of you here?!?! Its definitely not her best, but its hella catchy and such a bop. I was expecting the 'same-old same-old' or 'its boring' comments but wow wasn't expecting it to be so hated!
album has been postponed now until 27th Jan

For the best to be honest otherwise it would have tanked (I’m sure they done the same with her debut?).

They need to get a hit and a strong follow up to be able to launch the album properly.

I've given the song a listen after a few glasses of wine to see if it hits any different. It's not necessarily a bad song, I just think her formula of doing this exact thing has been rinsed to death now and the chorus is total banality rather than being anthemic like a lot of her past tracks.

Her debut came out mid September, I don't think it was pushed back at all after it was announced (that I can remember)

I quite like the new song. It’s not as strong as maybe you’re the problem but it’s quite catchy!
This is alright. Sounds like a filler album track. I think I’m done with actively listening out for her releases now

Add me to the list of people terrified to listen to this based on the (relative) panning it got here! (this was before I scrolled to page 3...)

It's really good! Not her best single, or even close... Maybe You're the Problem was AMAZING, but was clearly gonna be one for the gays only (still surprised it never got playlisting/radio 1 though...), this one seems more accessible in a Kings & Queens/My Head & My Heart way; it won't do as well as those, but I can see Top 75 at least!

On the subject of bringing Ava bops constantly... I am FULLY HERE FOR IT. No-one seems committed to out and out pop, and Ava is smashing it, probably the only charting artist I actively seek out new music from, as I'm almost certain it's gonna be a great pop banger. 🤷‍♂️
