February 1, 20233 yr one has to wonder how low they’d be if Unholy was never released, with Love Me More having bombed it really did look like Sam was in danger of losing all relevancy though I imagine the album would’ve still made number one as it clearly doesn’t need to have sold that much to do so I am not entirely convinced Unholy hasn’t ended up alienating a number of their normal album buyers. By far the most removed from their normal sound so might have put off a number expecting the whole album to be experimental. Here’s hoping INHTMF does become a moderate hit still and leads the way to Lose You hopefully getting a single campaign.
February 1, 20233 yr terrible sales, barely progressing from Mon update crazy how a couple weeks ago a re-issue of Courteneers-St Jude, which is very very far from being a classic album, did 20K and now Sam is barely on 12K

February 1, 20233 yr About Sam Smith's sales, I think Unholy really was a TikTok hit and songs from TikTok never seem to boost the artist's career. Look at Maneskin or Lizzo for example. Lizzo's had multiple TikTok hits but her singles continue to just go back to doing almost nothing afterwards, she might genuinely never ever get another hit unless she goes viral on TikTok again. Maneskin, I thought they'd get smash hits constantly, but it was just the TikTok ones... I don't expect Meghan Trainor or Miguel or Bebe Rexha or anyone else to see a boost to their careers either. David Guetta will probably just go back to doing as well as he was doing before, which I effectively think is what's happened to Sam. Only person I can think of who's got a career boost from TikTok is Doja Cat and debatably Arctic Monkeys. But they had like 7 TikTok hits each. Having just 1 doesn't seem like enough (although to be fair I remember Sam having another one a while back, so maybe after 5 more they might get a career boost lol). Basically I've seen it enough now of people getting a TikTok hit and then their follow-up releases doing nothing that I am not assuming any career boosts for anyone anymore, so Sam's sales don't seem that bad compared to what I was expecting. February 1, 20233 yr LET ME EXPLAIN!!! The first week, Miley was like 3x higher than Raye, and now she's just 2x as big!! Next week, 40% bigger, week after 20%... Won't take long for Raye to catch up!
February 2, 20233 yr P!nk keeps dropping like 7 places between Wednesday and Friday so I fully expect she'll end up missing out again, just a question of if she'll finally get a new peak or not. I have a feeling the success of 'Unholy' is really just completely separate from the album's success and the album would be selling around the same whether or not that had been a big hit. All hypothetical though of course.
