Thanks to the 48 people who participated in last week's poll :jump:

Official results from week 5:

[ 33 ] P!nk - TRUSTFALL (#59)

[ 23 ] Freya Ridings - Weekends (#100)

[ 18 ] Sam Smith, Calvin Harris and Jessie Reyez - I'm Not Here To Make Friends (#23)

[ 14 ] The Kid LAROI - Love Again (#18)

[ 11 ] SZA - Snooze (#56)

[ 11 ] Tom Grennan - Here (#84)

[ 6 ] KSI - Voices (feat. Oliver Tree) (#11)

[ 6 ] Baby Tate - Hey, Mickey! (#82)

[ 5 ] Strandz - Us Against The World (#65)

[ 5 ] Luke Combs - The Kind Of Love We Make (#83)

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 5 and auto-qualifying for the February monthly round is P!nk - TRUSTFALL.

After last week's surprise winner we're back to what I expected, although it was again my favourite song of the week so no complaints, it's the latest single from American superstar P!nk who is more than two decades into her career and still consistently churning out the hits with this dance-pop cut climbing in its second week to give her a second new top 40 hit in as many weeks, both from her upcoming 9th album also titled 'TRUSTFALL'. Some may say it's because of autoplay payola, some may say it's because it's her best song for years. Maybe both are true. In any case, it received the backing of a little over 2/3 of voters. He isn't credited on it but Fred again.. is on production duties here making this in a way his second poll win of the year.

She took a few weeks to (barely) make the cut to be included in one of these polls but upon her belated debut Freya Ridings' comeback single lands in second place, 10 votes behind P!nk. Four other songs managed to get a double digit number of voters, with third place going to Sam Smith's new single which may or may not be a collaboration with Calvin Harris and Jessie Reyez (I gave them the benefit of the doubt for this poll x), fourth to The Kid LAROI's new track which Joseph bribed 14 people to vote for, and it's a tie to round out the top 5 between a SZA album track and a new song from Tom Grennan on the eve of him getting himself cancelled at the BRITs. The remaining songs each got either 5 or 6 votes so a pretty high scoring week in general. I assume 5 people voted for Luke Combs by accident.

Weekly winners to date:

01 // 12/01/23 // Sub Focus and Dimension - Ready To Fly

02 // 19/01/23 // Skrillex, Fred again.. and Flowdan - Rumble

03 // 26/01/23 // Miley Cyrus - Flowers

04 // 02/02/23 // Fall Out Boy - Love From The Other Side

05 // 09/02/23 // P!nk - TRUSTFALL

Only 8 songs this week and half more than half of them are under 3 minutes so a trim 24 minutes and 16 seconds 22 minutes and 29 seconds in total. Although based on the quality of the stuff I have heard from this lot already it's not a very pleasant 24 minutes and 16 seconds 22 minutes and 29 seconds. Any Falling In Reverse voters will be joining last week's Luke Combs voters in being judged heavily.

Vote for as many or as few songs as you want and would be ideal if you can make sure you've heard all the songs before voting if possible!

You have until Saturday evening ish as usual :jump:

Also a reminder that the January monthly round is open for the rest of this week as well if you've not voted in it yet! (I haven't myself x). Will close that at the same time as this week's regular poll.
quick pedantry note - you’ve got the wrong version of Give It To Me in the playlist, there is a 1:43 “full vocal mix” version which is the version actually charting

I voted for Rita, RAYE and Switch Disco this week. Not the best week, though I can see Give It To Me growing on me. Love seeing Nelly Furtado getting a second life in the charts having her verses remixed for dance tracks - just wish she got some credit.

The full vocal mix is definitely an improvement on the standard version.

Just Raye as well for me, Rita probably a close second but it's far from being her best.

Oops did not realise that (that's one of the couple of songs I've not listened to yet), changed it now! An even shorter playlist this week then :magic:

Speaking of alternate versions I was half considering putting 'Boy's a liar Pt. 2' on here this week too but decided to stick to only fully new entries.

Voting for Rita as I have to confess I do bop it, Raye and Falling In Reverse who I’ve not heard of but I thought it was a really interesting track.

Julian is getting judged 2 weeks in a row.

(Go read Ronnie Radke's Wikipedia article x)

I haven't properly listened to the Falling In Reverse song yet but I've heard parts of it and it sounds like a bit of a mess. Although credit for being quite a unique sounding top 100 hit in the current climate. Not quite sure how they've suddenly pulled that off.

Fam, anyone that disses my boy Anthony Fantano is on my blacklist. The song is also pretty poor as well

The Fantano reaction video is where I've heard the clips of it  (and another one on another channel called Brad Taste In Music, both videos labelling it as one of the worst songs of the year so far lol. Don't think I'd go that far tbf, it's probably not even the worst in this poll when Anne-Marie exists x)

8/10 Matt Sassari - Give It To Me (#96)

8/10 Rita Ora - You Only Love Me (#57)

8/10 Switch Disco and Robert Miles - REACT (feat. Ella Henderson) (#90)

7/10 RAYE - Ice Cream Man. (#69)

4/10 Falling In Reverse - Watch The World Burn (#95)

4/10 Nathan Dawe and Bru-C - Oh Baby (feat. bshp and Issey Cross) (#60)

4/10 Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran - Who We Love (#85)

2/10 Anne-Marie - SAD B!TCH (#65)

a fairly clear divide between the best and worst half this week - voted for my top half.

This is an awful week. I don't particularly like any of them but the Rita and Raye tracks are both ok. They're both 5/10s but I gave my vote to Rita.

1. Rita Ora - You Only Love Me

2. RAYE - Ice Cream Man

3. Anne-Marie - SAD B!TCH (#65)

4. Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran - Who We Love

5. Nathan Dawe and Bru-C - Oh Baby (feat. bshp and Issey Cross)

6. Matt Sassari - Give It To Me

7. Switch Disco and Robert Miles - REACT (feat. Ella Henderson)

8. Falling In Reverse - Watch The World Burn

I hate, hate, hate that 'Falling In Reverse' song. Why does every white guy who's heard Eminem once think that rapping fast when you have nothing interesting to say sounds good? It sounds horrible 90% of the time and only works if you actually have some ability on the mic. Aside from the novelty releases, I think it's easily the worst song to chart in anyway since 'Astronaut in the Ocean' but it's worse then even that. I'm usually a firm believer in that there's no true objective good or mad in music but that song is the exception, it's offensively awful.

Voted Rita, Anne-Marie, Switch Disco & Falling In Reverse (this one was the BIG highlight )

Only RAYE deserved a vote from me in a dreadful week! Lana to save us soon x

01. RAYE - Ice Cream Man. (#69) - good song alert?! the best here by miles <3

02. Matt Sassari - Give It To Me (#96) - completely pointless when the Timbaland original exists but I like that song so in terms of what I'd enjoy while on, this would be 2nd in line :')

03. Rita Ora - You Only Love Me (#57) - watered down version of past glories

04. Anne-Marie - SAD B!TCH (#65) - this wasn't as horrendous as I feared from the title (aka better than 'PSYCHO') but still cringe

05. Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran - Who We Love (#85) - pretty dull

06. Nathan Dawe and Bru-C - Oh Baby (feat. bshp and Issey Cross) (#60) - a mess

07. Switch Disco and Robert Miles - REACT (feat. Ella Henderson) (#90) - leave Robert Miles alone </3 really annoying version

08. Falling In Reverse - Watch The World Burn (#95) - sorry this was horrible and as aforementioned they have a dodgy front man so double pass x

As expected only Raye was worthy of a vote this week. I'm intrigued to know if people voting for F*****g In R*****e are unaware of Ronnie Radke being a widely publicised POS or are choosing to ignore that  either way weird to see them getting a first-ever charting hit (both in the UK and US) in 2023, I thought they'd been left in the past about 10 years ago.

1. RAYE - Ice Cream Man.

2. Rita Ora - You Only Love Me

3. Switch Disco and Robert Miles - REACT (feat. Ella Henderson)

4. Anne-Marie - SAD B!TCH

5. Matt Sassari - Give It To Me

6. Nathan Dawe and Bru-C - Oh Baby (feat. bshp and Issey Cross)

7. Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran - Who We Love

8. Falling In Reverse - Watch The World Burn
