I know Daniel Bedingfield's second era was a flop but it's quite weird how (to the best of my knowledge) he hasn't even officially released anything since then.

I can't help but feel perhaps the injuries he sustained in his car accident might have had something to do with it, as in maybe finding working in the music industry too debilitating or something.

Apparently, his uncredited vocals feature in the song 'I Wanna Feel' by Secondcity. That was released in 2014 and got to No.1.

The UK was pretty cold towards Natasha Bedingfield in her second album era too, yet she found great success with it in the US (under a different name and with different artwork than what the UK got). Although she fell off everywhere commercially after that album.
”Pocketful of Sunshine” was ELITE, I can’t believe it didn’t chart at all in the UK? It’s one of her biggest hits stateside and is one of those songs that seems to have transcended past the zeitgeist

For some reason 'Pocketful of Sunshine' wasn't even released in the UK, I feel like they just gave up from the point of 'Love Like This' not doing much (which was a vile song)

I reckon that easily would have been a hit in Autumn 2008 had they actually released and pushed it, that was really silly of them!

I actually really liked Love Like This.

I honestly think Babies just killed her UK career stone dead. The UK are not such a forgiving audience.

^^^Apparently her of her label knocked back the chance to record SOS and so it was passed on to Rihanna. (Not sure how true this is).

She did have some good songs though. AM to PM, When You Look At Me, Dip It Low & Say I.

She was going down a more R&B/hip-hop route and that's why they rejected it. With that said, we don't know if SOS would've performed as well for her as it did for Rihanna. "Say I" actually did well (top 5), but the album "So Amazin'" bombed and further singles were shelved. Overall, they seemed to abandon her albums way too fast in the UK despite her having hits off them. There was no reason why Christina Milian or It's About Time couldn't have been mined for more singles.

With that said, what really seemed to kill her career is that she signed to that failed MySpace label which kept her tied up for years and then Young Money which did nothing for her.

Didn’t know about all the label stuff but agree with SOS actually. It wouldn’t have been a sure fire hit for her. Saying that I do wonder what it would’ve sounded like.

With Christina Milian I also agree that why there weren't more singles taken from her first couple of albums as there were songs planned for release, but for whatever reason they kept getting cancelled.

On her debut Christina Milian, I know that 'Until I Get Over You' was planned as the 3rd single, but I think it was scrapped in favour of her collaboration with Romeo Dunn 'It's All Gravy', which is a shame as its a nice little ballad that could have done well, not on the same level as the first 2 singles, but a top 10 hit at least & could have helped with album sales.

On her second album It's About Time, I didn't find that album all that great apart from the first 2 singles. I think 'L.O.V.E.' & 'Peanut Butter & Jelly' were considered as potential singles at one point until the era was scrapped.

Her third album So Amazin' the next single was gonna be 'Gonna Tell Everybody', but that was scrapped as well.
Dina Carroll was always someone who really disappeared although for a few reasons, illness, label issues etc but had 2 successful albums and a hotspur collection but the third album never came.

Another one for me is Jamelia. Superstar was pretty big.

Thank You, See It Through A Boys Eyes. Then the third album had Something About You and Beware of the Dog.

Then nothing.

Jamelia left her label Parlophone after the disappointing sales of her 3rd album 'Walk With Me' & then the Greatest hits collection released in late 2007, 7 the fact that they wanted her to change up her image by wearing more revealing outfits & decided that she had enough and walked away from them. Jamelia did sign a new record deal in 2010 & was working on a new album working with producers who worked with Lady Gaga & Beyonce, but nothing got released & decided to call it quits on her music career, as she lost interest in the music industry.

Thanks Nina, I remember the sakes of Walk With Me being low but didn’t know the rest.

Would’ve been keen to hear what she was working on in 2010/11.

Beware of the Dog was amazing!

Loved in back in 2007 when I first heard it. I was disappointed to see this only reach #50 in Australia in May 2007. Deserved much better.

I seem to remember something about an album or single titled Rebel? There was this obsessive loon at the time who would make threads about her constantly and mention her in practically every post, that's how it stuck with me!

That, by all accounts, was just an insane fan making shit up. Her fourth album never had a title and they hadn't even picked a first single yet before she parted ways with her label - per this Digital Spy article, she signed to an unknown label in 2010 during a live stream, so whatever the deal was it likely wasn't that serious. I'd be willing to bet there wasn't more than a couple of demos recorded for it.
