Yeah because you really care if the record label are making money or not

Ed and Lewis make a heck of a lot more money for their labels than Kylie does.

Honestly you don't need to be ridiculous you can just say yes I am biased.

The word ‘biased’ has been used a lot around here recently (it’s almost as bad as the overuse of the word ‘ridiculous’)

Isn’t everyone on here going to be ‘biased’ because we’re discussing music subjectively? You’ve always been biased in your posts as you are always dragging people for liking female pop.

At the end of the day, people who like Kylie and want to see her do well, don’t like Ed or Lewis and are bored of them doing really well. And what is wrong with saying that?

This is supposedly a fun music discussion forum, it’s not a BBC news report. It’s ok if people are ‘biased’ in here.

Perhaps try not to be so pressed about people expressing themselves.

I assume Kylie has no chance of top 10 this week then with those Dave tracks blasting up the chart (Dua will likely overtake as well)? :(

I'm hoping it'll get moved up on Hot Hits UK though as it'll get a new peak in the chart (it'll likely be top 15). It moved from 36-38-40 on the playlist though so not holding my breath. Even if they moved it up into the 20-25 region that would make a noticeable difference!

I remember a situation with Olly Murs "You Don't Know Love" it was no.1 on airplay, no.1 on i-tunes and there was a fuss when he barely made the top 10. It is still all about streaming and Kylie has broken the ice with it but hasn't broke it enough to dive in, but this release has so far shown that she can get people streaming she just has to keep chipping away and teaching her older fanbase that Spotify isn't scary or going to cost anything.

I also remember when Steps had their comeback they did not understand streaming at all and assumed as they were top of i-tunes they would also be top of the official charts and had to learn that they were unlikely to ever be a streaming band and that chart places no longer mattered.

What other song gets moved down 10 places (to about #50) on HHUK despite climbing from outside the top 200 on the daily chart into the top 50? How is that fair? The streaming support isn’t exactly strong

They are obviously unsure whether to fully get behind it but the fact it’s on there is surely a plus? Let’s hope it fights against the grain in that respect!

Am I Missing something here when I go into Hot Hits UK it's at No.42 not No.50 or are you talking about Beyonce?

But radio 2 songs fon't do well in the charts. Only BBC and Capital songs do well and affect playlisting on streaming.

Your just digging a deepening hole for yourself here mate 🤣

I’m not sure as I’m an Apple Music man but there it’s top 5 on their two biggest playlists!

There is a MASSIVE DIFFERENCE between being a HUGE Desperate Debby, giving away CDs to get to no.1, and releasing a CD FORMAT, but at a pretty high price, for collectors. One is giving super fans a collector's item; the other is manipulating the charts with cheesy cds given away to all and sundry for a sneaky week at the top.

Come on Jazzy. Stop React from going top 3 and looks like Dave Cee have #1 in the bag even if they don’t sell anything today and tomorrow

They are more likely to hit 6 figures by Friday!

Thinking I’m wanting Noel to keep his no1 streak going and hope they both break 40k on Friday. Would also be nice to see Lewis get to 10k! More likely Taylor will get to 3!

Anyone know the album history for Foo Fighters - have they had no1s with most releases?

I’m not an expert but surely most people who go to artist stores to buy a physical single cd would need to be huge fans or collectors no matter the price?

Exactly.

I don't know if you mean it to come across that way but that is so ridiculously patronising - first of all, not all of the people streaming songs are old and "older" people know what streaming is and don't see it as scary, what a WILD generalisation  they aren't in a nursing home.

If acts from the 80s, 90s etc release songs now they inevitably fail due to streaming it isn't rocket science, people grew up in the buying era and a lot don't understand or want to try streaming.

Steps were appearing on tv daily promoting their single saying stream, stream, stream but people were still only buying why do you think this is Kylie's first song to stream (apart from Santa Baby) because her core fanbase were from the buying era.

There is a reason this is my single purchase since 2005, I never progressed to streaming just Youtube.

I’m sure they would rather get the money from actual purchases of the single honestly! Just because streaming is the dominant form of music consumption doesn’t mean it’s the best. And I’ve said this hundreds of times but fanbases can’t really influence streaming the way they can make an impact with download sales - Padam Padam is only doing well on streaming because it’s caught on with the general public, not because Kylie fans have “learned how to use Spotify”
I'd have thought an act like Steps, after 16 years away must have surely gone into that knowing any possibility of an actual hit single would've been slim to none?
They have acknowledged that they didn't understand the streaming era and it took them a while to understand how it worked. They entered on sales at No.7 and on official chart at No.37 and I am sure it was H that said they didn't get it at the time, they thought things were just the same and people just bought songs they didn't know about all the playlists etc so when they were no.1 on itunes they were shouting about it on Twitter thinking by the end of the week they would be in the top 10 of the official chart.

I doubt a lot of the people who bought the 99p Ed Sheeran signed CD single with free postage would have bothered had the single cost £3.99 plus £3.00 for postage like Padam Padam. I wonder how many casual and non fans have listed copies of Ed's single on eBay, hoping to make a profit from the people who missed out. I bet it's far, far more than the number of copies of Padam Padam.

Keep trying, hun. People (especially Madonna fans) have spent 35 years trying to diminish Kylie's success. It wont change anything. Just be thankful that Madonna has finally found someone she can piggyback on to get another UK top 20 hit after 14 years of flops.

Someone is very eager to turn this into a Kylie vs. Madonna debate for god knows what reason I see

(I'll take the bait this time after no one acknowledged your first post x)

:D I don't know why it is such a never ending sport of clashing the female popstars against each other.
