June 28, 20231 yr https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/w...e-a-look-around What do you think? Necessary? Too much changes? Perhaps don't care about the website because the chart info you want/need are here anyway. Edited June 28, 20231 yr by All★bySmashMouth
June 28, 20231 yr Initially looks like they're stylistically going a bit more in line with international charts, it does look quite like Billboard. The old site was always bulky and slow to load which made me not use it, this seems a bit less so though too early to really tell.
June 28, 20231 yr So generous of the OCC to let me fit 4 whole songs on my computer screen at once! I notice that artist pages seem to have peaks/chart runs on other charts like downloads/physicals/genres now which seems useful, though the streaming charts are not among them. Edit: the chart runs are on the charts' pages themselves though, so runs for streaming/sales/etc can be viewed there - I like seeing that. The pre-July 2014 streaming chart has disappeared from the chart selection, but still exists: https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/offic...40629/streamarc I notice that the year-end charts now have 'weeks' (read: years) figures that seemingly count below #100, even though the lower positions aren't shown? For example on the 2022 singles EOY, 'Mr. Brightside' has 15 'weeks' but only 6 in the top 100, and 2021 song 'Overpass Graffiti' appears as a new entry with 2 'weeks'. June 28, 20231 yr Mr Brightside is also showing as having spent 712 weeks in the official chart, although it has only 367 weeks top 100 and the chart run doesn’t show any of its weeks spent between 101-200. probably just a glitch on their part rather than a genuine desire to extend the chart archive beyond the top 100s

Also shows 165 weeks instead of 76 Edit: Viva La Vida shows 228 weeks as well Edited June 28, 20231 yr by Maestro
June 28, 20231 yr Everything seems to have its weeks in the Top 200 (?) alongside it in the chart, but when you click on the info it gives weeks up to the Top 100 only as well as the chart run. Same in the Sales charts. Hopefully they'll fix that (the only stats I'm interested in are for the Top 100 or higher). I like that you can now see chart runs for other charts such as Sales and Streaming, as well as the weeks Top 75, Top 40, etc. I'd been wondering if A Thousand Years had reached 100 weeks in the Sales Top 75 yet and it's only had 95 since streaming was introduced. I had to go round the houses a bit to find the Sales chart run for Jerusalema as the artist pages don't include Sales, and it seems you can't go straight from the 23/10/2020 chart (when it peaked officially) to the same week's Sales chart anymore, so I had to go to this week's Official chart, change it to Sales, and then change the date to 23/10/2020, but at least it's there (if I'd remembered it was back in the Sales chart a week ago that would have saved me some time).

June 28, 20231 yr The main problem I see is that, for example, Miracle is listed as “Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding”, and they have their own artist page as if they are specific act. Does this mean that they are each not credited with Miracle as a #1 in their own right if you go to their individual pages?
June 28, 20231 yr Oh I like how you can get a new comprehensive view of the charts that individual artists have charted on - certainly saves time! I had no idea Sugababes charted on the dance singles chart with Flowers lol
June 28, 20231 yr Ohhhh just figured out a feature Iøm gonna love, they have Album chart runs!!!! which was something difficult to find for me at least Edited June 28, 20231 yr by Bjork
June 28, 20231 yr I see there is now a 'play' button on each chart so you can hear a 30 second clip of a song.
That was already the case on the old site - in this case the song is listed on both Calvin and Ellie's individual pages as well, but they're pretty inconsistent with remembering to add collaborations to all of the relevant pages (or, more likely, their automated system for doing that doesn't always work). I'm guessing they've just imported the same data set to the new site and it's mostly just an aesthetic overhaul so the artist pages probably still have the same errors as they did before. I think this redesign might actually be a net positive which feels like a rarity with any kind of site redesigns tbh, I quite like the new look and it seems they've added a few pretty decent new features, well done OCC x (although will see if I notice anything annoying about it in the coming weeks).
June 28, 20231 yr Have they announced any new chart rules coming into effect next week? They usually switch them up half way through the year but are unusually quiet about it.
June 28, 20231 yr This redesign definitely has made it more modern and in line with other major international chart websites (USA and Germany especially I think!) so that's a positive. The artist pages now including the other charts they've appeared in is a great change too! First annoying thing I've noticed about it though is that re-entries in the chart are currently being displayed as new entries.
June 28, 20231 yr They're often quiet about new rules they introduce and we have to infer them from the charts once the change has gone in (at least that was the case with automatic resets changing from delayed by a week to instantaneous in July 2021).
