Hooray for 'bad idea right?' being a top 3 hit now :cheer: it has a real 00s feel about it, would slot on to the soundtrack of something like Mean Girls perfectly
Did Taylor get a credit retrospectively for joker and the Queen or is it OCC inconsistencies again,

The chart histories on here don't copy the OCC's credits, Taylor is credited on here because the remix was the version pushed as a single. The OCC never credited her as the label never sent the relevant memo.

Biography

A few weeks after Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” became the biggest song in the world, Saturday Night Live ran a sketch that featured a bunch of middle-aged guys shooting pool in a dive bar. One puts “drivers license” on the jukebox. Another complains that it just sounds like a teenage girl sitting alone at a piano. By the end of their discourse, they’re all in tears, singing along. “I was driving around my neighborhood listening to really sad songs, like, crying in the car,” Rodrigo told Apple Music. “And I got home and I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll write a song about this: crying in the car.’” Rodrigo had tapped into a universal experience: The middle-aged guys weren’t teenage girls, but they’d also driven around listening to sad songs.

Rodrigo was just 17 when the song came out, but she had been getting ready for years. Born in Temecula, California, in 2003, she started lessons in piano, voice, and acting as a child, and went on to star in Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. But, really, what could prepare you for breaking the global single-week streaming record for a female artist? Especially on your first single? And getting a nod from Taylor Swift in the meantime? (Along with “drivers license” winning the Apple Music Award for Top Song of the Year in 2021, Rodrigo’s debut LP, SOUR, was the Top Album of the Year and Rodrigo herself was named Breakthrough Artist of the Year.)

Like Swift—and Lorde, too—Rodrigo has a knack for conjuring big feelings through small details: an ex singing along to their Billy Joel with his new love (“deja vu”), reading his self-help books “so you’d think that I was smart” (“enough for you”). Her content is all-caps, but her delivery is lowercase, lacing bedroom pop with a vulnerability and anger rare for teen pop: “Where’s my f***ing teenage dream?” she wonders on “brutal.” “I’m the biggest emo drama queen,” Rodrigo tells Apple Music. Maybe. But the key to letting it out is keeping it together. - Apple Music

Happy that 'vampire' got its turn at #1 even if her team moving the physicals to a certain week does feel a bit iffy. One of a handful of great chart-toppers this year <3

It's frustrating for me that 'Paint The Town Red' has been the chosen one as I think 'Attention' and 'Demons' are way more interesting, but yeah, it's obviously a lot more commercial/catchy so understandable that it's been the big hit. Looking forward to the album on the whole still with the experimentation of sounds this time around~

Vampire ❤️ a perfect lead single and definitely my favourite from GUTS, easily one of the best songs of the year <3

Paint the town red is a bop too, ik I’m in the minority but I think this has been Doja’s best era to-date so far (and her VMA performance was fab)

Biography

Some call the end of summer the “slow news season”—school's still out, vacation is in full swing, and headlines tend to get weird—and Doja Cat (born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini in 1995) knew just what to do about it. In August of 2018, the Los Angeles singer and rapper dropped “Mooo!”, a sultry R&B jam, thick with double entendres and sung from the perspective of a cow. It went viral, thanks to an unforgettable, improbably catchy chorus that had people wondering: Could she possibly be for real? But Doja, who released her debut EP, Purrr!, in 2014, and her first album, Amala, in 2018, was no novelty act. In the years since, she has proven herself one of pop music’s savviest, most audacious characters. She raps nimbly, switching up her cadence from one syllable to the next, and her pop-culture nods (referencing actresses Tia and Tamera Mowry or sampling blink-182 and Paul Anka) are just as unpredictable as her dizzying flow. Her presentation is both tough and coquettish. As she demonstrated over and over on her 2019 album, Hot Pink, she assumes a fun and fundamentally empowered stance in her singing and rapping about sex. And woe to anyone who might take issue with that: “Sex is meaningful, it is!” she told Apple Music, with her trademark defiant charm. - Apple Music

Biography

Clavish

It’s fair to say that Clavish is on an upward trajectory after finding consistency with releasing music and often finding success in how it’s being received by the culture. In 2021 he released his EP 2022 a five-track teaser into what a Clavish project would sound like and this year alone he has released ‘Lately’, ‘Greece’ and ‘Sold Out Shows’. In his latest release ‘Public Figure’ the North-West rapper acknowledges his newfound position in rap culture, arguably being seen as one of the most exciting up-and-coming rappers in a new generation that comes directly after the crop of Dave, Fredo, J Hus, AJ Tracey and Mostack. Navigating his success, like all rappers he still struggles to remove himself from certain situations that were familiar to him in his old life, as he raps with quality cadence “You know I’m an artist but if I see three numbers you know I’m spinning the coop.” - New Wave Magazine

Aitch

Navigating UK rap stardom is a tricky thing, but Aitch has it down pat. He’s chameleonic like the pop stars he collabs with, gritty like the grime artists that inspired him. Born Harrison Armstrong in Manchester in 1999, Aitch grew up removed from the London scene, where grime blossomed during his formative years, but soaked up the music from afar. Then, as a teenager, he started rapping, building a following online with his snaking flows and dizzying rhyme schemes. Things took off in 2018 when he dropped his menacing debut single “Straight Rhymez,” and Aitch has since risen to the pantheon of UK hip-hop. In tracks like the 2019 remix of Ed Sheeran’s “Take Me Back To London,” you’ll hear his transition away from grime to sticky pop-rap, but his dexterous raps remind that he hasn’t lost touch with his roots. - Apple Music

Edited by DanielSwift

For a second week in a row we have a random electronic song with an edgy title showing up in the low top 100 out of nowhere (SUICIDAL-IDOL - ecstacy [sic]). Once again seems to be benefiting from a split between the normal version and a slowed version hence not being on streaming chart radars.

It's tagged as witch house on Rate Your Music so consider me very intrigued! (Though I didn't end up loving the ZWE1HVNDXR song last week)

Oh V isn't in the physical singles chart so RIP that theory. Although I do have a different theory now - I notice his EP isn't appearing in the albums chart now despite being in the mids. It is a 5 track EP, with one of those tracks being an alternate version of 'Slow Dancing' so could be being treated as effectively 4 tracks - I wonder if the OCC at the last minute put the EP's sales towards 'Slow Dancing' instead? (Usually EP sales for 4 track EPs go towards track 1 but I guess that doesn't necessarily have to be the case).
The chart histories on here don't copy the OCC's credits, Taylor is credited on here because the remix was the version pushed as a single. The OCC never credited her as the label never sent the relevant memo.

Ah gotcha , thanks

Glad bad idea right repeaked would of preffered it being ahead of vampire
