Biography

Emerging artist cassö and his inaugural release “Prada” is set to propell the twenty-year-old producer to unprecedented heights. With a mere eight months of production under his belt, the track has marked a transformative milestone. Derived from D-Block Europe track “Ferrari Horses,” featuring the enchanting vocals of songstress RAYE, the producer’s trance-infused adaptation was conceived on his university laptop earlier this year. Enthralled by the captivating vocals, he envisioned a euphoric pluck and an assertive bassline that would escalate into an explosive drop, breathing new life into the track’s sonic landscape. - GRM Daily

This is more palatable than 'Ferrari Horses' for me due to the reduced DBE :kink: but still nothing I'm in a rush to listen to

Prada yes yes yes :D

The V song has a CD release, it looks like it was meant to be shipping this week but I'm assuming from the sudden jump from the mids they actually counted a week early. (Will comment more on this chart later but just thought I'd try to explain the shenanigans as no one else did :magic:)

I kind of wish the backing track of 'Prada' was attached to a better song. Maybe there's a mash-up out there or something.

Biography

Fred again..

Born in 1993, London-based songwriter/producer Fred John Philip Gibson treats his electro and rave-inspired songs as diary entries. But the artist, who performs under the name Fred Again.., doesn’t limit the subject matter to himself. On albums like 2021’s Actual Life (April 14 - December 17 2020) and its sequel, Actual Life 2 (February 2 - October 15 2021), Fred invited his friends into the studio to record their personal stories and then sprinkled them throughout the album. (The obvious exception was an epic Kodak Black sample on “Kahan (Last Year)”.) The songwriter has also worked with stars such as Eminem and Ed Sheeran, but Fred’s longest collaboration is with his brothers, whom he shares his tracks with before they’re released. “It’s such a blessing to work with both of my brothers,” Fred explained in an interview with Apple Music. “I’ll spend hours and hours working on a tune, and they’ll hear it how I will, but without all the baggage. They bring a fresh ear.” - Apple Music

Obongjayar

Steven Umoh, known by his stage name Obongjayar, is a Nigerian musical artist based in London. After releasing multiple EPs, his debut studio album, Some Nights I Dream of Doors, was released in 2022. - Wikipedia

Glad Prada has hit top 5!

The original sucks, but this version is a bop

Still surprised (but pleased) this is top 5.

very pleased to see Fred again make the top 5 with this! probably heading for top 3 next week now that Olivia's album impact has lessened a tad

Honestly don’t get the success of this Fred Again.. song. He’s had so much better songs… it’s just so meh

Wow #4 for Adore You is incredible!

Love 'Marea' and 'Delilah' but glad Fred Again got a top 5. Even though he seems to get stick in some areas because he's posh.

Ooh Fred again.. now has a top 5 hit to his name  I think 'Billie (Loving Arms)' and 'Jungle' are my favourites of his, but this is still nice, grows on me more each time

This is really dull sadly, he has better that should be his biggest hit to date!

Biography

A few weeks after Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” became the biggest song in the world, Saturday Night Live ran a sketch that featured a bunch of middle-aged guys shooting pool in a dive bar. One puts “drivers license” on the jukebox. Another complains that it just sounds like a teenage girl sitting alone at a piano. By the end of their discourse, they’re all in tears, singing along. “I was driving around my neighborhood listening to really sad songs, like, crying in the car,” Rodrigo told Apple Music. “And I got home and I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll write a song about this: crying in the car.’” Rodrigo had tapped into a universal experience: The middle-aged guys weren’t teenage girls, but they’d also driven around listening to sad songs.

Rodrigo was just 17 when the song came out, but she had been getting ready for years. Born in Temecula, California, in 2003, she started lessons in piano, voice, and acting as a child, and went on to star in Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. But, really, what could prepare you for breaking the global single-week streaming record for a female artist? Especially on your first single? And getting a nod from Taylor Swift in the meantime? (Along with “drivers license” winning the Apple Music Award for Top Song of the Year in 2021, Rodrigo’s debut LP, SOUR, was the Top Album of the Year and Rodrigo herself was named Breakthrough Artist of the Year.)

Like Swift—and Lorde, too—Rodrigo has a knack for conjuring big feelings through small details: an ex singing along to their Billy Joel with his new love (“deja vu”), reading his self-help books “so you’d think that I was smart” (“enough for you”). Her content is all-caps, but her delivery is lowercase, lacing bedroom pop with a vulnerability and anger rare for teen pop: “Where’s my f***ing teenage dream?” she wonders on “brutal.” “I’m the biggest emo drama queen,” Rodrigo tells Apple Music. Maybe. But the key to letting it out is keeping it together. - Apple Music

Bad Idea Right ❤️❤️ Another fab track from Olivia <3 I’m glad this has made the top 3 after just missing the top 5 initially, hope it can have some longevity in the top 10 now <3

Album effect of course but glad to see 'bad idea right?' top 3 now, a much better peak for it!
