Loved 'Miracle' but can't really get into this as much, the drop takes me out of it a bit

Totally agree. The song is okay but miracle is miles better

Awww 'Desire' always seems to fall from it's First Look. Still brilliant track and Sam's best track for years.

thats cos its doing best on amazon and their data contributes heavily to first look!

Biography

A few weeks after Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” became the biggest song in the world, Saturday Night Live ran a sketch that featured a bunch of middle-aged guys shooting pool in a dive bar. One puts “drivers license” on the jukebox. Another complains that it just sounds like a teenage girl sitting alone at a piano. By the end of their discourse, they’re all in tears, singing along. “I was driving around my neighborhood listening to really sad songs, like, crying in the car,” Rodrigo told Apple Music. “And I got home and I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll write a song about this: crying in the car.’” Rodrigo had tapped into a universal experience: The middle-aged guys weren’t teenage girls, but they’d also driven around listening to sad songs.

Rodrigo was just 17 when the song came out, but she had been getting ready for years. Born in Temecula, California, in 2003, she started lessons in piano, voice, and acting as a child, and went on to star in Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. But, really, what could prepare you for breaking the global single-week streaming record for a female artist? Especially on your first single? And getting a nod from Taylor Swift in the meantime? (Along with “drivers license” winning the Apple Music Award for Top Song of the Year in 2021, Rodrigo’s debut LP, SOUR, was the Top Album of the Year and Rodrigo herself was named Breakthrough Artist of the Year.)

Like Swift—and Lorde, too—Rodrigo has a knack for conjuring big feelings through small details: an ex singing along to their Billy Joel with his new love (“deja vu”), reading his self-help books “so you’d think that I was smart” (“enough for you”). Her content is all-caps, but her delivery is lowercase, lacing bedroom pop with a vulnerability and anger rare for teen pop: “Where’s my f***ing teenage dream?” she wonders on “brutal.” “I’m the biggest emo drama queen,” Rodrigo tells Apple Music. Maybe. But the key to letting it out is keeping it together. - Apple Music

happy get him back! made it in this week, and hopefully it can go top 5 as well, but its a shame all-american bitch missed out over it, i slightly prefer that!
The album is honestly amazing. My highlights are get him back, bad idea right, love is embarrassing, ballad of a homeschooled girl and all American bitch

Very good track although I think it's a bit too similar to 'bad idea right' for single no.3. She's not gone for a 'Driver's License' type ballad as a single yet - guess that's her choice.

And best 'Get Him Back' track is still by Fiona Apple.

Biography

The country world feigned surprise when, after three albums of Music Row-indebted songcraft, Taylor Swift formally embraced pop on 2012’s Red. But no one should have been shocked: Any 14-year-old capable of persuading her parents to move from suburban Pennsylvania to Nashville for her career clearly has ambition to burn. And the thrill of following Swift’s rise has been watching her execute it flawlessly, largely because her melodic intelligence is equal to that ambition. Her early, youthful love songs heralded 2010's newly self-possessed Speak Now—which showed off her scathing wit—and evolved into knowing, ironclad pop fare that held its own against boisterous Max Martin production on 1989, her fifth album, titled after her birth year. Throughout, her songwriting has blurred the lines between the public and private, burying enough real-life clues (about, say, scarves and Starbucks) to make clear that only Swift can own her narrative, thank you very much, while still retaining a lyrical elegance. Though 2017’s reputation might have been perceived as a gorgeously constructed piece of dramatic theater—its attendant heroes and villains all real-life characters from Swift's public feuds—all that spectacle proved an attention-grabbing cover for her most romantic album yet. She turned up the romance even more on 2019’s Lover, but it was 2020’s folklore and its companion, evermore—ruminative, relatively lo-fi albums written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic—that earned her the Apple Music Award for Songwriter of the Year. - Apple Music
