Sam is up 108 places with jingle bells I gusss they got confused why his song wasn’t on iTunes and bought whatever they could find

I’m completely torn. I would love Wham! to FINALLY get the Christmas No 1 but at the same time I would love Sam to bag his first, and likely last No 1 and be part of the Christmas No 1 history, as he’s a lovely guy. At least this year we will get a decent Christmas No 1, and when was last time we had one of those?

Might have been this price earlier in the week but just seen Sam’s track on Amazon is 69p. Given him a download. Hopefully a top 2 finish is still possible.

Just curious, do you think The Pogues would be Christmas Number 1 had Shane MacGowan died on the 14th - the last possible day before the tracking week? I think it would have been close at best.

^ Definitely not as their streams didn’t even overtake Wham!’s the day after the news, and the extra downloads can’t have been more than a couple of thousand.

I can’t knock Sam at all however inflated his peak from this song will be. It’s such a tough business and he’s used the opening available to him to maximum effect, all with a big smile on his face, and produced a very decent song in the process.

 

Exactly this, the fact it sounds like a great new Xmas song makes it fine for me and interesting from a charts perspective

I’m just curious to see if any of the creators will acknowledge the song when it flops tomorrow or if they’ll completely ignore it tbh.

Most likely they'll celebrate their #1 position on the Sales only chart and act like that's what really counts
