December 18, 20232 yr Oh wow, Sam is so close! Clearly Wham! will pull ahead but Sam getting Xmas No.1 could open quite the can of worms for the OCC regarding the way Amazon exclusives are counted. As someone else said though, I don’t really blame him for taking advantage of a system that needs changing. He lost his only other shot at No.1 due to a pretty cruel last minute mega physical sales drop. I love the track and have downloaded it (in a previous week) and bought the CD but I don’t see how he claws the No.1 from here unless he can manifest a download campaign - difficult as many people are unfamiliar with buying MP3s on Amazon. Well he is doing his best to start a download campaign himself. Maybe if he does some press/TV/radio this week he can garner some more support?
December 18, 20232 yr 2.5k for a midweek #5 in the Christmas album chart :nocheer: I miss the days when 100k wouldn’t even guarantee a Top 10 :drama:
December 18, 20232 yr 25 Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday 27 Creator Universe - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday I prefer the original (and best) version.
December 18, 20232 yr It was the TRUTH!!! There is an anti-Mariah occ condpiracy!! We have the proof x No you don't!
December 18, 20232 yr There’s a sales breakdown here: @1736821267138064466 Last Christmas (Epic/RCA) is the bookmakers’ favourite thanks in part to a new seven-inch green vinyl edition, which has so far moved 2,522 copies. Consumption overall for the festival perennial is up 21.9% week-on-week to 23,590 chart sales, including 960 downloads and 20,108 sales-equivalent streams. It has been at No.1 for two weeks already and is well placed to hold on at the top. Sam Ryder’s You’re Christmas To Me is at No.2 in the Midweeks with 21,865 chart sales, though it has stronger momentum with consumption up 45% week-on-week. There is a CD single available from Amazon with 1,734 sales so far this week, in addition to 526 downloads and 19,605 sales-equivalent streams. The track features in Amazon Prime Video's original comedy film, Your Christmas Or Mine 2. When it comes to streams logged as equivalent sales, the contest is even closer between Sam Ryder and Wham!, with just 503 chart sales between them.
December 18, 20232 yr Very interesting so wham is outselling Sam on proper sales and streams #1 will be well deserved then
December 18, 20232 yr Nice to see Laufey finally making it, thanks to a non-Spotify only version being released on other platforms this week. Very close between Wham! and Sam, wonder if Sam can clinch it.
December 18, 20232 yr With a bit of campaigning Sam could totally grab the @1 Is not like Wham are gonna retaliate
December 18, 20232 yr With a bit of campaigning Sam could totally grab the @1 Is not like Wham are gonna retaliate I don’t really see how, considering this update is missing a day of Spotify and Apple streams meaning Wham is actually a lot further ahead
December 18, 20232 yr with crazy campaigning and begging people to buy his song on itunes + his physicals too he has to focus on itunes basically forget about streams and really beg for it
December 18, 20232 yr There’s TikTokers with a combined 55 million followers who are struggling to get 10k downloads I don’t see how Sam Ryder is going to get there and even if he does it still won’t nearly be enough nevertheless you can’t rule anything out in this world
December 18, 20232 yr he is really handicapped by the amazon excludive, sure alexa helps by playing him whenever she wants, but he cuts out a large active audience who WANT to hear the song, as most people use apple or spotify! and you cant even itunes campaign cos its not available there. so id day him even getting top 10 is an amazing achievement with such a handicap
December 18, 20232 yr There’s TikTokers with a combined 55 million followers who are struggling to get 10k downloads I don’t see how Sam Ryder is going to get there and even if he does it still won’t nearly be enough nevertheless you can’t rule anything out in this world you have to look at audience though. majority of ladbabys audience would be middle aged people who use youtube and facebook so will understand. the creators are firstly all from tiktok and have a majority younger audience, so they dont grasp that streaming isnt equivelant to downloading. I was havign this discussion with some classmates at my collage (were 17/18) and the topic of xmas #1 came up. someone brought up how he helped FONY cos he played it on spotify and didnt grasp how that wasnt equivelant to downloading and so didnt reaaaly contribute much also side note none of these creators have a hardcore fanbase to go out and mass download, unlike ladbaby, ive seen most of them on my fyp as they swipe by but not many have proper 'fans' as such
December 18, 20232 yr he is really handicapped by the amazon excludive, sure alexa helps by playing him whenever she wants, but he cuts out a large active audience who WANT to hear the song The video can be watched on YouTube, so the song isn't 100% exclusive to Amazon.
December 18, 20232 yr tbf thats similar to saying a target exclusive cd isnt 100% exclusive because you can buy it from indie music stores *shrug* i do see your point but thats ahrdly going to help much in a streaming dominated world
