December 20, 20232 yr Sam Ryder’s CD back in stock, hope he can do another successful push! Fingers crossed, I just ordered one to give to my dad lol.
December 20, 20232 yr Why does Sam (or his management) want to see the receipts of people who buy or download the single? Don't they have that information anyway? Probably an incentive. He’ll probably announce something to those who show proof early than to the rest of the fans. Or something like that I’d imagine. Similar to “preorder the album for a presale code” I’d imagine

December 20, 20232 yr Lol if he does get the Christmas no.1 it'd be one of the dodgiest ever! :teresa: How so? What I find dodgy is a 39 year old single being realised on cd and vinyl , why not wait until the 40th year next year? Edited December 20, 20232 yr by kimberley88
December 20, 20232 yr From the OCC. Official Charts can confirm that Mariah Carey is now back in play for the Official Christmas Number 1 single 2023, setting her up for a big battle with WHAM! and Sam Ryder as we edge towards the final 24 hours of the race. Profiting from an uplift of almost 5,000 UK chart units overnight, Mariah's 1994 classic All I Want for Christmas is You holds steady at Number 3 in today's chart update. If such growth continues into Thursday, we could see her aiming to dislodge Sam Ryder from his current expected new peak of Number 2, with Amazon Music Original You're Christmas to Me.
December 20, 20232 yr So misleading  I bet Wham also had a 5-6000 sales “uplift” aswelll  So basically she’s just closer to overtaking Sam (which was always a given anyway!)
December 20, 20232 yr well you can't blame the OCC for trying to make more of a story out of this week's chart rather than telling all the non-chart watchers what we already know that there's next to no chance of Wham! being overtook.

December 20, 20232 yr Didn’t Nicki Minaj get in trouble for that? :lol:I think singles and album rules are different (although I'm not sure what the rules for each are exactly ) and I *think* that is a Billboard thing!
December 20, 20232 yr If Mariah’s still behind Sam she has no chance. Also the Pogues’ vinyl has clearly done nothing then, might drop to #6 this week
December 20, 20232 yr All that update tells me is that this race is over and everybody else is fighting for second third etc
December 20, 20232 yr All that update tells me is that this race is over and everybody else is fighting for second third etc I think it’s been whams locked in since the start. Sure Sam and the pogues were contenders but I personally didn’t think it would be anyone but wham, even if I wished it could be the pogues lol
December 20, 20232 yr I think it’s been whams locked in since the start. Sure Sam and the pogues were contenders but I personally didn’t think it would be anyone but wham, even if I wished it could be the pogues lol I agree honestly the idea of a big pogues campaign was always fantasy they’d probably win a poll of who people want to be 1 but they had no realistic chance and Sam Ryder would need outrageous sales to get close nobody else a factor. I was a little unsure of the creative group because you never know the pull they can have with their followers but overall that was organised badly they just were rushed to do it last minute once ladbaby pulled out.
December 20, 20232 yr I am so here for Wham being #1 every Christmas, George Michael at Number 1 is always welcome.
December 20, 20232 yr Shame Noah's label didn't decide to push it this week, with a remix and physicals he could've been in with a real shot. Just hoping he holds up well into January and can take it the week after next. Crazy to think in the past 20 years, the only Xmas #1s we've had which weren't either X Factor winners or (mostly terrible) charity campaigns are Killing in the Name, Rockabye and Perfect. Would be nice to see a genuinely popular current hit get it again.
December 20, 20232 yr I think the only question remaining is whether Wham! will beat the 57,361 'Rockabye' did as the lowest Christmas #1 sale in recent times at least.
December 20, 20232 yr Can't even really just blame playlisting for The Pogues failing to be a contender as there's basically zero sign of any improvement for them in either sales or streaming - I think it could have been achievable but it seems no one really tried to make it happen! Creator Universe tanking just confirms what I already guessed / hoped, that the audience LadBaby tapped into was quite specific and hard to replicate.
December 20, 20232 yr LOL everyone in the Wham! Facebook group is now losing it about Mariah catching up even though she isn’t at all. I won’t tell them it’s fine and they don’t need to panic download as I’ll probably be accused of being a saboteur if I do. :P I would have preferred the Pogues but it’s fantastic that we’re getting a properly great song at Christmas #1 for the first time in 14 years.
