January 2, 20242 yr Hopefully the OCC will suspend automatic resets for songs which have been in the Top 100 within the previous 3 years (as they usually do this week in January), but override that with the rule that songs which haven't charted in the previous 3 years can be automatically reset with a 25% increase. If they do that, as long as Sophie does at least 25% more than whatever the cutoff for measuring these things was last week, she she should get reset.
January 2, 20242 yr Has Sophie been reset already or would she actually be as high as #27 on ACR? (Yay that she does seem set for top 40 either way but still hoping she will get reset as she clearly deserves to under the new rules). edit: guessing it's the latter if Teddy Swims is as high as top 10
January 2, 20242 yr Good to see Teddy Swims top 10. I've only just heard it, but it's quite good! He sounds a bit like Chris Stapleton, which is a big plus in my book. and it's got a guitar solo!
January 2, 20242 yr From the OCC Noah Kahan could claim the first Official Number 1 single of 2024 this week with his enduring hit Stick Season. With festive hits flushed away, the song looks set to lift nine places to reach the summit in its 14th week on chart, having previously peaked at Number 2 in December 2023. Meanwhile, Jack Harlow’s former chart-topper Lovin On Me flies 25 places midweek to Number 2, and Tate McRae could see greedy return to its previous peak of Number 3. Following the release of a limited edition vinyl variant, Dua Lipa’s Houdini tracks for a return to the Top 5 this week (4), as Billy Gillies ft. Hannah Boleyn’s DNA (Loving You) aims to break the Top 5 for the first time (5). After featuring in London’s New Year firework celebrations broadcast on the BBC, Dua Lipa’s former chart-topper Dance the Night lifts back into the Top 40 midweek (24). Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s 2002 smash Murder on the Dancefloor eyes a return to the Top 40 for the first time in 22 years this week, tracking for a Number 27 re-entry. The song, which peaked at Number 2, sees a spike in popularity thanks to its inclusion in the (very memorable) closing scene of writer-director Emerald Fennell’s psychological thriller Saltburn, starring Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi and Rosamund Pike, which began streaming on Amazon Prime over Christmas. See the full Official Singles Chart Update here from 5.45pm.
January 2, 20242 yr Sophie :cheer: Also yay for Billy Gillies. I'm admittedly a bit bored of it now but it's still a banger and I didn't expect that.
January 2, 20242 yr Great to see DNA finally heading for the top 5, and yay for Sophie! It would be quite something to see MOTD in the top 30, hoping it can do even better though.
January 2, 20242 yr Don't forget there will probably be a few songs that get reset and jump ahead of Billy Gillies (if the previous couple of years are anything to go by anyway)! He might finally get top 10 but definitely would not hold my breath for him being top 5. Just worried for a moment about Jack's post not mentioning J.I.D but he is in the update too, albeit not as comfortably as I'd have hoped (#35, also susceptible to being knocked out by resets... the absolute tease if this still ends up missing the top 40 after all despite being in the top 40 non Christmas songs for weeks in December <_<) Central Cee is also in at #34 currently.

January 2, 20242 yr Some nice new peaks hopefully coming like DNA and Rich Baby Daddy. Surprised Mr Brightside isn’t Top 40 actually. Almost makes you wonder if there’s been a sudden rule change haha.

January 2, 20242 yr Nice to see 'Rich Baby Daddy' and 'leavemealone' both heading for the top 10! Hopefully 'I Remember Everything' can get past 'Lose Control' by Friday. Praying that 'Surround Sound' can hit the top 40 come Friday...
January 2, 20242 yr Cruel summer not got rest It had been rest twice, can a song get multiple resets , then again last few years more songs got reset as the week went on , didn't Adele get reset last minute a few years ago
