Oh I've finally lost one of my votes... the wonderful remix of 'Hide U' by Kosheen <3 I must've been its biggest fan as I contributed 19 points
My +27 managed +0 from everyone else combined (Bon Jovi), second only to Always in my favourite songs of theirs!

ArrDee - Oliver Twist

The Charlatans - How High

Charli XCX - Boom Clap

M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy - Run Away

Madonna - Fever

Shania Twain - Forever And For Always

The Charlatans had one top 10 hit in 1990 and then had to wait another six years for three more consecutive ones of which this was the third. Madonna is another regular on these polls, this year she has three songs to attract votes and her cover of a song from 1956 is the first to drop out. As well as Saltwater and Miss Independent, Run Away appears twice as a song title (Janet Jackson spelt it as one word).

One more gone from my votes from the last batch ('Bang Bang Bang', which I gave exactly half of its points, still my favourite Mark Ronson song x). 'ceilings' was one of the very last songs I cut and 'Mo Money Mo Problems' was close too. Unusual of me not to be backing a Coldplay song but 'Hymn For The Weekend' is one of their weaker singles for me (although still pretty good).

From 1976, this was 10cc's eighth top 10 single and the last one before Kevin Godley and Lol Creme left the group. Manfred Mann's Earth Band appear for the second day in a row with Davy's On The Road Again. Kiss You All Over and Footloose were both US number 1 singles. In a packed list, other standouts are Disappointed, In Dreams and Somebody's Watching Me.

Gabriella Climi - Sweet About Me

Dave - In The Fire

Eminem - Sing For The Moment

50 Cent featuring Nate Dogg - 21 Questions

The Human League - Tell Me When

Hue And Cry - Labour Of Love

Thin Lizzy - Whisky In The Jar

In 1995, Tell Me When gave the Human League their first top 10 single since 'Human' in 1986 and eighth overall. Labour Of Love was a great start to Hue And Cry's chart career but the best they managed after that was a number 15 peak for 'Looking For Linda'. From 1973, Whisky In The Jar was also a first hit and best peak for Thin Lizzy but they at least managed three further top 10 hits (8,9 and 10).

I find it difficult to compare very recent songs with those I've loved for years but I think 'In The Fire' was the one song from the 2020s that I did vote for. <3

Gloria Estefan - Don't Wanna Lose You

Billy Idol - Rebel Yell

Suede - Saturday Night

Sister Sledge - He's The Greatest Dancer

To the disco now, this was the first of five top 10 singles for the four Sledge Sisters. Rebel Yell only reached number 62 when first released by Billy Idol in 1984 but was re-released the following year after the success of White Wedding which is still to come. Don't Wanna Lose You was a second American number 1 for Gloria Estefan.

Eurythmics - Love Is A Stranger

Jamie Lawson - Wasn't Expecting That

Kate Winslet - What If

It was a slow start for the Eurythmics despite Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart already having two top 10 hits as part of The Tourists. Released in 1982, Love Is A Stranger was the fifth single in a row by them to miss the top 40. It was re-released after the breakthrough made by 'Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)' the following year. Another single that did better the second time around was Jamie Lawson's in 2015 after first coming out in 2011. What If by Kate Winslet is from the 2001 animated film 'Christmas Carol: The Movie'.

David Bowie - Where Are We Now?

Girls Aloud - Whole Lotta History

Jon and Vangelis - I'll Find My Way Home

Julian Lennon - Too Late For Goodbyes

Mika - Love Today

Taylor Swift - I Can See You

Texas - Inner Smile

After leaving Yes in 1980, Jon Anderson teamed up with Vangelis and they released three albums over the next four years. I'll Find My Way Home was from the second one, 'The Friends of Mr Cairo'. Jon found his way home to Yes in 1983. Elsewhere, David Bowie, Julian Lennon and Texas all lose the second of their two songs.

Miami Sound Machine - Dr Beat

Miami Sound Machine go way back to 1975 and Dr Beat is from their eighth album, 'Eyes Of Innocence', released in 1984 and the first one to be in the English language. My Oh My was Aqua's fourth hit single and the first not to reach number 1.

David Guetta featuring Usher - Without You

The Ting Tings - Shut Up And Let Me Go

From 2008, this was the follow-up to the Ting Ting's number 1 single, 'That's Not My Name'. David Guetta loses his third song and has just one left now.

Boo at the lack of love for Bowie's surprise comeback single. One of my favourite chart events of the last decade.

Lily Allen - LDN

The Corrs - So Young

Kylie Minogue - Chocolate

LDN (a text abbreviation for London) was Lily Allen's follow-up to her first number 1 single 'Smile'. So Young was a third top 10 hit for The Corrs, remixed for the single release by K-Klass. Like David Guetta yesterday, Kylie Minogue loses the third of her four songs.

From 1984, this was the only top 40 hit for the Perth band. They split up in 1987. 3LW did one better with a second hit reaching number 21. Victoria Beckham's two number 6 singles both received votes and the first one drops out here.
