Janet Jackson - Again

This was Janet Jackson's seventh number 1 single in her home country. All four of her number 6 singles have now been eliminated so a semi-final place eludes her this year.

Paula Abdul - Rush Rush

Calvin Harris featuring Ellie Goulding - Outside

This was a fifth US number 1 for Paula Abdul so not quite as many as Janet Jackson but still an impressive total. Calvin Harris loses the second of his two songs.

White Wedding goes back to 1982 but it wasn't a hit until 1985. Billy Idol and Little Mix both lose a second song but the latter have one more left. Put 'Em High from 2004 is one of two top 10 singles for the Swedish DJ Sten Hallström with both of them featuring the Swedish singer Therese Grankvist.

Gorillaz - Dirty Harry

Missy Elliott - Work It

Kim Wilde and Junior - Another Step (Closer To You)

From 1987, this was a fourth top 10 single for Kim Wilde and a second for Junior whose real name is Norman Giscombe. Work It by Missy Elliott spent ten weeks at number 2 in the US with all of those weeks being behind 'Lose Yourself' by Eminem. It still shares the record of most weeks at number 2 with 'Waiting For A Girl Like You' by Foreigner. Gorillaz lose the first of their two songs.

The cut off point has been reached!

100 singles had a points total greater than 62 points. We also have six wild cards, these are the songs that were given 30 points by one voter but didn't receive enough points from others to go through. So there will be 53 songs in each semi-final with the top 25 going through to the final. These are the wild cards, with the person who gave them 30 points in brackets:

30pts Lewis Capaldi - Bruises (chrissmith276)

41pts Tinie Tempah featuring John Martin - Children Of The Sun (Cow P)

45pts N-Trance - Forever (Sempachorra)

51pts Avicii - Waiting For Love (Danuary)

52pts Laura Branigan - Gloria (Leonardo)

53pts Joel Corry and Jax Jones featuring Charli XCX and Saweetie - Out Out (Jason)

The first semi-final will start on Monday.

Aww, shame some of those last few just missed out. Close to You is a classic, my favourite Carpenters song, so soothing <3 Dirty Harry is an underrated moment from Gorillaz, love the choir and dramatic vibe to it all.
Aww shame for The Carpenters - I think I narrowly decided against voting for that in the end and a low score would have got it through. Relieved for some of my other faves though.
Too bad for Paula Abdul. Would have been my top five but the list was way too long to vote.

Edited by JackJones

Just noticed 3 songs I missed voting for in others' votes, and from some quick maths they appear to be on 70, 70 and 73 points - hope that'll be enough!
and it is - yay!

I was sure my 30 pointer would need to be a wildcard, but it looks like it had 63 points (with my +30) so just squeezed through regardless. Happy to see N-Trance through as a wildcard though!

I thought my wildcard pick was needed, but looks like it's just sneaked enough points through normal means.

In which case I'm sad I didn't give it to Bon Jovi or Bowie (not that they'd have done much in the semi)

The Nights' going through?! :cheeseblock: Glad my gamble worked out well in the end!

I'd missed/forgotten that Gloria was wild-carded through, happy about that, it will likely be getting good points from me in the next round

Looking forward to the next stage, thanks again Rollo!

Dirty Harry so close to qualifying :(

Probably my favourite Gorillaz song these days

Glad I opted for Bruises over a couple of others but may well finish last in the semis based on me having been the only voter for it hahaha!
