The 25-40 section has been brutal for a lot of my faves. U2 and St Elmo's Fire being the latest to fall. Not many of top picks left in, even at this early stage

Embrace - Come Back To What You Know

The Hues Corporation - Rock The Boat

Starley - Call On Me

One of the earliest disco hits, this was a number 1 single in the US in 1974. It now has a similar sitting down dance routine to Oops Upside Your Head which was one of the songs on 4 points. It seems to depend on which country you're in. In Ireland, they go for Rock The Boat while the UK favours Oops Upside Your Head. Come Back To What You Know was the second of six top 10 hits for Embrace while Call On Me was a one hit wonder for Starley.

Kelly Clarkson - Miss Independent

JX - Son Of A Gun

The Jacksons - Can You Feel It

Alison Moyet - Weak In The Presence Of Beauty

With its gloriously over the top video, this was a tenth top 10 single for the Jacksons. It went on to be sampled on the 1998 number 1 'Feel It' by The Tamperer featuring Maya. Weak In The Presence Of Beauty was a cover of a song by Floy Joy and Son Of A Gun was a top 20 hit twice, first in 1994 (number 13) and then again in 1995. The second Miss Independent has now been eliminated.

The Black Eyed Peas - Don't Lie

DMX - X Gon' Give It To Ya

I don't know either song so I had a listen to both to see which one I should choose for the youtube link. Don't Lie wasn't as bad as the other song. It was a fifth top 10 hit for the Black Eyed Peas. Straight after JX comes DMX with his single from 2003.

Avicii featuring Aloe Blacc - SOS

Celine Dion - All By Myself

Kanye West featuring Lupe Fiasco - Touch The Sky

From 1996, this was Celine Dion's cover of the Eric Carmen ballad from 1976 which he had based on a Sergei Rachmaninoff piano concerto. His version only got to number 12. I hadn't noticed until now that we have a fourth instance of two voted for songs with the same title. With Abba still to come, SOS is the fourth. Avicii still has two songs left. Touch The Sky from 2006 was Kanye West's fifth top 10 hit.

A few pretty good ones going out recently - I much, much prefer the Mylo remix of Doctor Beat, but the original's fun too. Shut Up and Let Me Go is still way better than their number 1 (though not quite as good as the wonderfully underrated Great DJ) and California Love is a stone cold hip hop classic (not surprised it failed to qualify mind x)

Poor Footloose as well, absolute classic x

Lost 2 more of my votes since I last posted, 'In The Fire' and 'Touch The Sky' (decent enough results for both of those). Some others that came close were Kenny Loggins, Rockwell, Taylor Swift, John Parr and DMX.

Blue - Fly By II

Victoria Beckham - Not Such An Innocent Girl

Electric Light Orchestra - Wild West Hero

Stormzy - Big For Your Boots

From 1978, this was the second in ELO's run of four consecutive number 6 singles. They now have just one of their five songs left. Big For Your Boots was Stormzy's first top 10 hit while Fly By II was the fourth out of eleven for Blue. Victoria Beckham loses the second of her two songs.

Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know by Britney Spears scored 46 points but is disqualified as it only reached number 12.

'Chocolate' is one of my favourite Kylie singles nowadays... very sensual and underrated  also voted for 'California Love'

ABC - Poison Arrow

Cassie - Me & U

Faithless - God Is A DJ

Patsy Gallant - From New York To L.A.

Little Mix featuring Stormzy - Power

Liza Minelli - Losing My Mind

Steps - Last Thing On My Mind

This was the second single taken from ABC's number 1 album 'The Lexicon Of Love'. The third and fourth singles both reached the top 5. God Is A DJ was a fourth top 10 hit for Faithless who have another song to come while Patsy Gallant's song was a one hit wonder in 1977. Liza Minelli had some help from the Pet Shop Boys with Losing My Mind which is her only top 40 single. Stormzy makes his second appearance today on a single by Little Mix who have two songs left.

(No songs scored 47 or 48 points)

Belinda Carlisle - In Too Deep

Corona - Try Me Out

Destiny's Child - Girl

Faithless featuring Dido - One Step Too Far

James Hype and Miggy Dela Rosa - Ferrari

Daryl Hall and John Oates - Maneater

Queen - It's A Hard Life

Straight after God Is A DJ comes One Step Too Far from 2002. Maneater was one of six US number 1 singles for Hall & Oates but is their highest charting single in the UK. It's A Hard Life was the third top 10 hit from Queen's 1984 album 'The Works'. Belinda Carlisle and Destiny's Child both lose the first out of two songs to receive votes.

No losses for me tonight, though I must have overlooked 'Poison Arrow' and 'Maneater' when voting - my last losses were 'Where Are We Now?', 'Dr Beat' and '(Feels Like) Heaven' on the previous page.
Aw, glancing at everyone's vote lists as they were coming in, I thought One Step Too Far was doing pretty well. Sad to see it fall short, great song.

Poor Maneater. That song grown on me after that Jennifer Lawrence film. The young man playing it on piano was a great scene. :P

Also Ferrari should have go through to the semi-finals :(

She went on to have a number 1 four years later with 'I Know Him So Well' with Barbara Dickson. Take Me Home was the fifth single to be taken from Jess Glynne's debut album 'I Cry When I Laugh'. Better Now from 2018 was Post Malone's third top 10 hit.

Belinda Carlisle - (We Want) The Same Thing

Childish Gambino - This Is America

Gladys Knight - Licence To Kill

From 1990, this was Belinda Carlisle's fifth top 10 single and the second of her two songs to drop out. Gladys Knight's Bond theme from the year before was her final top 40 hit. This Is America is Childish Gambino's only top 20 single as the lead artist, he featured on another one by Leona Lewis.
