Rita Coolidge - We're All Alone

Duane Eddy - Peter Gunn

Busta Rhymes featuring Janet Jackson - What's It Gonna Be?

Kim Wilde - Four Letter Word

From 1977, this beautiful ballad was the only top 20 UK hit for the American singer. Her 1983 theme song for the James Bond film 'Octopussy' only just scraped into the chart at number 75. Four Letter Word was the eighth and final top 10 single for Kim Wilde while Peter Gunn from 1959 was the first of nine for Duane Eddy.

Bobby Brown - My Prerogative

Coldcut featuring Yazz and The Plastic Population - Doctorin' The House

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - The Power Of Love (2000 Rob Searle remix)

Jess Glynne - Right Here

Bette Midler - From A Distance

Oakenfold – Starry Eyed Surprise

Robert Palmer - She Makes My Day

Texas - Sleep

Robbie Williams - You Know Me

Will To Power - Baby, I Love Your Way/Freebird (medley)

This stringtastic song was the third out of five top 10 singles for Robert Palmer. Texas have four number 6 hits with two of them attracting votes and Sleep is the first to drop out. On day 3 of the results, Bobby Brown has already lost the second of his two songs.

Oh Doctorin' The House is good but I didn't vote for it.

'Starry Eyed Surprise' is the first of my votes to drop out which is not too surprising, glad I at least wasn't the only person to vote for it - it was one I didn't know the artist/title of for a long time (and was then shocked to discover the featured vocalist was the guy from Crazy Town ) but I remember it being a radio earworm back in the day, surprising that I have much recollection of it considering I was only 5 when it was a hit and it wasn't that huge, I assume it must have continued getting airplay for a while after release anyway.

From the rest so far I also considered voting for 'Buzzin' and 'I Found U' (think that was actually one of the last ones I cut) and plenty more I quite like. Also a few generic dance songs of recent years that I'm pleasantly surprised finished so low

Blackstreet - Don't Leave Me

The Everly Brothers - Crying In The Rain

Metro Station - Shake It

The Special A.K.A. - Gangsters

Shontelle - T-Shirt

Wet Wet Wet - Wishing I Was Lucky

From 1979, this was the first hit single for the Midlands based ska group also known as The Specials. Going further back to 1962, we have the Everly Brothers with a song later covered by A-ha. Wishing I Was Lucky was the first of many hits for Wet Wet Wet. All six acts listed here are making their only appearance.

Three of mine out - I thought 'More Than This' and 'Gangsters' would have other voters!

Everything But The Girl - Walking Wounded

The Fleetwoods - Come Softly To Me

Genesis - No Son Of Mine

It Bites - Calling All The Heroes

Inna - Hot

N-Dubz featuring Bodyrox - We Dance On

Gary Numan - I Die: You Die

Precious - Say It Again

Calling All The Heroes was the only top 40 single for It Bites. If you only know them for this catchy 80s pop song, you might be surprised to learn that they turned into a progressive rock group which leads us nicely to Genesis who are also here with the lead single from their 14th album 'We Can't Dance'. I Die: You Die was one of three Gary Numan singles to peak at number 6, Come Softly To Me goes way back to 1959 and Say It Again was the UK entry for the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest where it finished in 12th place.

Sam Cooke - Twistin' The Night Away

George Ezra - Blame It On Me

Example - Won't Go Quietly

Guns n' Roses - Paradise City

Twistin' The Night Away gave Sam Cooke his third top 10 hit, two years before his life was cut short in 1964. George Ezra and Example see their only songs go out but Guns n' Roses still have one left.

Ne-Yo - Miss Independent

Pinkfong - Baby Shark

Parra For Cuva featuring Anna Naklab - Wicked Games

S Club Juniors – Puppy Love / Sleigh Ride

This seems to be the most viewed youtube video ever. I've never seen it before so they can add me to the numbers. There wasn't an obvious other song from these four to choose as my youtube pick. As well as two songs called Saltwater getting votes we also have two called Miss Independent and the first of those is eliminated today.

My 14 pointer is a good calming antidote to Baby Shark :P

Paradise City below Baby Shark and Puppy Love??? Come now x -_-

Quite! (Although I do have a soft spot for 'Puppy Love' but ludicrous it's got more than PC!!)

'You Know Me' probably would have made my votes if I voted lol and 'Sleep' and 'Starry Eyed Surprise' were also good too. A few others were decent that cropped up as well.

First of mine to fall - Blackstreet were my +13 so, much like some of my top scorers yet to come, had no other voters!

Puppy Love above Paradise City is one of the more surprising results I've ever seen in a rate 😂

Rollo, you forgot to add my points on Call On Me! ^_^

Rollo, you forgot to add my points on Call On Me! ^_^

Sorry, I don't know what happened there. All your other scores from 30-21 have been added on. I've changed the score for that song now.

The first round results are always slow and painful torture as one great song after another is revealed to have fallen short, particularly once it gets beyond 30 points. :drama:
'Shake It', 'Hot' and 'Won't Go Quietly' were all ones that survived my initial cull too but fell a bit short. 'Baby Shark' ROBBED also!

Hot deserved better :(

EDIT: Turns out it didn't even make my final cut of 30, so never mind, it was a strong bunch
