November 30, 2024Nov 30 Not surprised to see Hung Up getting certified 2 x platinum at last. Seen it a lot on socials, recently so think there is an element of virality boosting Hung Up right now. Another certification for Celine is also great to see. A good week for the divas (Aretha, Etta James and Diana Ross included).

Nice for 'Rich Spirit' and 'WUSYANAME' too (YoungBoy getting 2 silver certifications in the same week, did he have any before this? I guess 'Bandit' w/ Juice WRLD probably got there but 'Make No Sense' is his most streamed song on Spotify as lead artist so I assume nothing else will have beaten it there). Oh and of course the most impactful certification of the week - ar SuBo :cheeseblock: 'Enjoy The Silence' next x

Didn't realise it would be that far ahead of 'WUSYANAME' but just checked and it had more of a headstart than I remembered (thought for some reason they were only released a few months apart) and Juice probably has much stronger residual streams than Tyler anyway tbf.

The gap will only widen sadly (at least in my opinion), so long as Spotify continues to give it very poor placement. Another good week for Chappell and always good to see a new Ciara certification. :wub:

Whenever I see UK all-time streaming lists I play the song to remind myself what it sounds like & it leaves zero impression on me.It's one of those tracks that appears on multiple playlists so in a way it creates its own popularity by getting numerous streams, which keeps it on multiple playlists. I do wonder how many of its streams this year has been due to people actively seeking out the track.

December 13, 2024Dec 13 It's just bizarre that some of the lesser Christmas songs are now generating multi platinum certs. If you asked me what the top 50 Christmas songs are each year, I'd never have even considered that Buble cover. I prefer the Perry Como version. I find Buble covers of every song inferior to the original..he makes them sound bland.
