Thanks to the 46 people who participated in last week's poll :jump:

Official results from week 5:

[ 18 ] Justin Timberlake - Selfish (#37)

[ 17 ] Megan Thee Stallion - HISS (#31)

[ 12 ] Good Neighbours - Home (#81)

[ 10 ] Skepta - Gas Me Up (Diligent) (#32)

[ 7 ] Ice Spice - Think U The Shit (Fart) (#75)

[ 5 ] Blake Roman, Sam Haft and Andrew Underberg - Poison (#96)

[ 4 ] Andrew Underberg, Sam Haft, Keith David and Blake Roman - Loser, Baby (#77)

[ 2 ] Yung Filly - Grey (#49)

[ 2 ] Nicki Minaj - Big Foot (#56)

[ 2 ] Andrew Underberg, Sam Haft, Jeremy Jordan, Amir Talai, Erika Henningsen and Kimiko Glenn - Hell's Greatest Dad (#98)

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2024 week 5 and auto-qualifying for the February monthly round is Justin Timberlake - Selfish.

It was a low scoring but very closely run result this week, it tightened a lot with the last few voters but in the end American singer and punching bag Justin Timberlake still managed to hang on to claim his first poll victory with his first chart entry since I started them, the lead single from his forthcoming 6th solo studio album 'Everything I Thought It Was' which just about squeezed into the top 40 in its first week though may still grow into a more sizeable hit having climbed 8 places in week 2. It tops the list with the support of only 39% of voters and beats closest challenger Megan Thee Stallion by just 1 vote. (Robbed x). 5 votes further back in 3rd place are chart debutant indie duo Good Neighbours, while Skepta's hit of formerly controversial artwork fame puts in a good performance for a relatively middling UK rap hit (both chart wise and imo quality wise x) as it also just about reaches double figure support in 4th place. Only half of the list were clear of the 5 vote threshold with one more just scraping it - the offerings from Hazbin Hotel mostly fail to impress as two of them fall short, with biggest hit 'Loser, Baby' getting 4 votes and the scraping 'Hell's Greatest Dad' (which has been replaced this week by a fourth song from the soundtrack) in joint last on 2 votes. Also getting 2 votes are YouTuber turned occasional musician Yung Filly and... er... Nicki Minaj, who are the 2 people voting for this irredeemable garbagio that even most of the Barbz rejected sorry xx At least it only got half as many votes as 'none of the above'.

Weekly winners for 2024:

01 // 11/01/24 // The Cast Of Wonka - You've Never Had Chocolate Like This

Weekly winners for previous years: 2023

Despite a quiet release week and no new entries in the top 60, there still ends up being a substantial list of another 10 songs on offer this week (totalling 24 minutes and 22 seconds), most of which have been bubbling under for a while. Half of them are entirely new artists to the top 100. None of the 10 scream major BuzzJack fave, February is not really serving so far. Low scoring winner again it is I fear.

Vote for as many or as few songs as you want and would be ideal if you can make sure you've heard all the songs before voting if possible!

The January monthly round remains open for the rest of this week, will aim to get the next weekly poll up alongside the results of that on Sunday night as ever. And if anyone still hasn't voted in the 2023 final I'll still accept any straggler votes that come in before I start results which I will aim to do possibly tomorrow (today). x

megan was ROBBED

and this is my 2nd time null-voting since these began :o nothing good this week imo

Glad Megan didn't win, Justin deserved.

Very weak selection this week, went for just Nathan Dawe.

Feeling generous so I voted for 4 songs: NewEra, Aimee Carty, my only (revealed) Unknown Pleasures alumnus Artemas, and Nathan Dawe - none particularly great, but a better selection than last week.
Quite like the ‘new’ Hazbin Hotel song and glad it has overtaken last week’s third choice. Picked that, Jazzy and Cat Janice.

1. Rich Amiri - ONE CALL

2. NeNwEra - Birds In The Sky

3. Nathan Dawe - We Ain't Here For Long

4. Artemas - if u think i'm pretty

5. Don Toliver - Bandit

6. Andrew Underberg, Sam Haft and Daphne Rubin-Vega - Out For Love

7. Jazzy - Shooting Star

8. goddard. and Cat Burns - Wasted Youth

9. Cat Janice - Dance You Outta My Head

10. Aimee Carty - 2 days into college

I think this might be the worst week of this yet! The week where it was just #skeptacore was better,

I was so close to nil voting but I've been generous and gave 'ONE CALL' a vote. It's a pretty average trap track.

'Birds In The Sky' and 'We Ain't Here For Long' are a bit better than the average dance tracks we get. It's a different type of generic compared to Nathan's usual stuff that makes it sound slightly fresh,

I can see why 'if u think i'm pretty' might so virtal but it doesn't work as a full song for me. 'Bandit' is a bit annoying really. Sounds like a poor imitation of Travis Scott.

'Out Of Love' feels a bit Encanto. Not as good as the Hazbin Hotel songs from last week. 'Shooting Star' is probably Jazzy's most boring song yet. The weird pronunciation of 'radar' is the most memorable bit. Cat Burns' voice doesn't sound strong enough for a 'dance banger' on 'Wasted Youth'.

'Dance You Outta My Head' charting is a nice story but it's a boring song. The vocals on '2 days into college' are so irritating.

What a weird week wit so many new entries but ALL outside the top 40 :o

Don Toliver - Bandit (#63) - this one ticks all the right boxes for its genre

Andrew Underberg, Sam Haft and Daphne Rubin-Vega - Out For Love (#75) - annoying voice

NewEra - Birds In The Sky (#78) - sounds like something ripped straight out of 2013 (hence an ironic artist name) but i dig it

Rich Amiri - ONE CALL (#82) - Future rapping over Travis Scott production? And a phased out ending? I'm in

Aimee Carty - 2 days into college (#84) - almost sounds like some kind of parody? on one hand it's somewhat wholesome but for sure i'd get annoyed of this after a few listens

Artemas - if u think i'm pretty (#85) - sounds like something that would eat up in BJSC, not leaving much of an impression on me tho

Nathan Dawe - We Ain't Here For Long (#87) - he sure loves pitched up vocals huh (ella on vox again???), but seriously more like this nathan this is decent

goddard. and Cat Burns - Wasted Youth (#89) - cat burns simply isn't capable of singing about something other than "oh woe is me!!!" but goddard nails this production so it's a thumbs up

Jazzy - Shooting Star (#98) - this more mellow production doesn't suit her. back to bangers plz jazzy!

Cat Janice - Dance You Outta My Head (#100) - bit of a snoozefest

Voted Don, NewEra, Rich and goddard.

Best of the week: NewEra

Honorable mention: Goddard, Jazzy, Cat Janice

Dishonorable mention: Don Toliver

Worst of the week: Aimee Carty

Oop fell a little behind with this again  will get a 2 in 1 poll up tonight to catch up with the last 2 chart weeks of a rather lacklustre February.

My ratings from this poll:

1 'ONE CALL' 9.5/10

2 'if u think i'm pretty' 6.5/10

3 'Bandit' 6.5/10

4 'Dance You Outta My Head' 6/10

5 'Wasted Youth' 5.5/10

6 '2 days into college' 5.5/10

7 'Shooting Star' 5/10

8 'Birds In The Sky' 5/10

9 'Out For Love' 5/10

10 'We Ain't Here For Long' 4/10

A mediocre week, Rich Amiri gets my only vote, the song is a completely unremarkable Future ripoff ignorant trap banger, and I love it. I do just occasionally get randomly super into songs in this style despite having nothing particularly special about them at all. I guess I just think the hook flows really nicely and the beat is a banger. Not a lot to say about nearly any of the other songs - the production on the Artemas song is pretty cool but I don't think I'll find the song overall particularly memorable. The Don Toliver song has some good ideas but I think it feels a bit disjointed overall and the verses sound a bit too much like a middling Gunna song. The story behind the Cat Janice song charting is compelling but the song itself is just a decent disco pop track. I do actually really like the instrumental on 'Wasted Youth' but the lyrics are the same Cat Burns-isms as ever which I'm never a fan of, this is her best charting song to date though so improvement I suppose. The Aimee Carty song has a bit of a Cat Burns quality too with it being obviously quite amateur but I do think it has a slight charm to it albeit definitely not a song I'm rushing to go back to. Jazzy, NewEra and Nathan Dawe are all competent enough but mid dance songs (Nathan gets a lower score because I think it has the potential to get annoying if I have to hear it many more times). And the latest Hazbin Hotel song is inoffensive but basically just a snippet so didn't really make any impression on me.

01. Artemas - if u think i'm pretty (#85)

02. Rich Amiri - ONE CALL (#82)

03. goddard. and Cat Burns - Wasted Youth (#89)

04. Cat Janice - Dance You Outta My Head (#100)

05. Andrew Underberg, Sam Haft and Daphne Rubin-Vega - Out For Love (#75)

06. Don Toliver - Bandit (#63)

07. Aimee Carty - 2 days into college (#84)

08. Jazzy - Shooting Star (#98)

09. NewEra - Birds In The Sky (#78)

10. Nathan Dawe - We Ain't Here For Long (#87)

Just voted for Artemas - agreed that this is not a particularly strong week.
