February 19, 20241 yr Wait, how is the Jason Derulo album not even top 100 in the first set of mids?! Nobody's buying or streaming it! :P There's no physicals out, at least for the UK, although I'm not sure how much interest there'd be for that anyway.
February 20, 20241 yr Wait, how is the Jason Derulo album not even top 100 in the first set of mids?! Amazon. It's #2 on the Amazon Prime chart. Likely more so due to Michael Bublé than Jason though is why it's doing so well there. I think it'll drop out as the week goes on unless it starts appearing on Apple/Spotify. It's #25 on iTunes as well which might be helping a very small amount. Not sure how it's doing on youtube but hasn't appeared in the top 20 daily chart that Kworb has. Edit: Ignore me, I thought you were saying how is Jason in the top 100 on the singles chart. Time to head to bed I think! Edited February 20, 20241 yr by Envoirment
February 20, 20241 yr So @2 on Amazon all week translates into @63 in the mids And thats with Amazon having one extra day & the song is doing well on itunes And then the occ doesnt raise an eyebrow when they report millions of streams For their xmas exclusives?!!
February 20, 20241 yr do we know how many physicals has Dua sold already? cos on Fri+Sat on Spotify Beyonce did over 1 million, while Dua was just above 500K this means she must have sold like 9 or 10K physicals which is crazy
February 20, 20241 yr I genuinely feel sorry for J Lo was sure she would get an easy top 10! She deserves so much more. That film though, god what a bonkers weird thing, I turned it off lol!?!? It was a bit of an erratic release for the UK - Myself and a friend had to buy signed variants from her US site so that’s 4 ‘lost’ sales that she would’ve had if they had been available here, I know others done the same too.
February 20, 20241 yr this means she must have sold like 9 or 10K physicals which is crazy Genius to sell the vinyl, CD and cassette bundle for £6.98 tbh - 3k fans buying it = 9k sales.

Nobody pays £4 for a £1 CD or cassette so 3-4k people buying a bundle 9-12k sales. A needed boost since streaming is not doing great but not disastrous
February 20, 20241 yr Ed Sheeran did have a huge peak but he was aspiring to be on the level of Beyoncé which really only Taylor Swift has reached so it’s a bit daft to claim she is on a higher level now, she’s always been the same level obviously Ed suddenly went from mainstream to albums aimed at 50+ only Well, actually in terms of sales and no 1s Taylor is on a much higher level than Beyonce
February 20, 20241 yr Agreed - have just deleted it (and the reply solely because the comparison in the original post wasn’t needed to have to reply to)
February 20, 20241 yr Well, actually in terms of sales and no 1s Taylor is on a much higher level than Beyonce I mean, let’s see how Taylor’s selling in 2034 before we jump to any conclusions about levels. Beyoncé is 28 years into her career and I’m sure most would take her career over Taylor’s.

(15 since she first made a real impact in the UK) her legacy is made. People keep speaking about Taylor as if she’s 5 years into her career and won’t have much more longevity  She’s doing something unprecedented right now and getting bigger with each release so far into her career. Also, the Taylor and Beyoncé comparisons that happen are stupid (both here and stan twitter). You’d think that only one of them can be successful at any one time. They’re just female musicians. That’s all they have in common. Their music is not even remotey similar (even Beyoncé’s country stuff is different to Taylor’s country stuff…)

Can’t believe anyone would even debate that, but nothing surprises me anymore. Also, Bey has been around 10 years longer than Taylor and is 42 years old.

February 20, 20241 yr I wasn’t particularly disagreeing with that part of your post (I’m not agreeing either - it’s all subjective and depends what people want to base it on) but the way you worded it just made it seem like Taylor was some kind of newcomer 5 years into her career at her imperial phase level and will fall away into obscurity soon after. Fair enough. Let me just preface what I’m going to say with this: Taylor is a super talented songwriter and has had a career that almost anyone would be enviable of. Her impact is huge and her longevity is impressive. She is undoubtedly the most successful female singer out there right now as it relates to the commercial aspect (it could be argued that Adele is above her in that regard). I just feel like there’s a lot of re-writing of history as it pertains to Taylor. She has never been super successful globally up until the last 5 years. Beyoncé has been a successful global artist since almost the beginning of her career. We can talk about “levels” all day, but I doubt many would say Taylor has had a more successful career than Beyoncé in terms of both cultural, critical, and commercial impact worldwide. That’s the last I’m saying on the matter. I’m not going to get into a back and forth about Taylor v Beyoncé because as has been said, they are not even peers and do not typically inhabit the same lane. I find the debate futile and quite disrespectful to both artists. It’s as though people like to humble Beyoncé by comparing her to the most commercial pop star in the world right now in order to negate her extraordinary career and the impact she has had, and it sincerely comes off as racist to me. And I say all that as a straight white male. Quite frankly, I find the need by some people to state, and oftentimes insist, that Taylor is at a “higher level” than Beyoncé to be quite odd to say the least, as almost nobody would argue that Taylor as it a “higher level” when it comes to talent; If they did, I’d urge them to take a meticulous psychiatric evaluation. I’m not even going to get into the debate of whether Taylor would be as commercially successful if she wasn’t a conventionally attractive white blonde woman with a girl next-door demeanour, because I think everyone knows the answer to that question and I find that the disingenuous amongst us pretend that simple fact is somehow negating Taylor’s talent, which I have gone to great lengths to avoid. February 20, 20241 yr The way that Beyoncé fans will always and relentlessy drag anyone that doesn't comply with their narrative is exhausting and also the main reason why I really can't get to stan for Beyoncé anymore. Let people have their favs and if they don't stan Beyoncé the way you do that's fine. The whole "I'm not here to pit women against each other... BUT BEYONCE IS THE BEST PERIOD" is just agressive.
February 20, 20241 yr but why you pitch Beyonce vs Taylor? Thats so wrong in so many many many levels
February 20, 20241 yr I mean, let’s see how Taylor’s selling in 2034 before we jump to any conclusions about levels. Much like now, Taylor will probably be outselling Beyonce's albums and singles. She seems to be unstoppable at this point.
