Thank you for all the suggestions for your chart flops of 2012, now we look at the next year, 2013. What songs do you remember from this time and why do you remember them fondly? These could be songs that failed to make the UK Top 40 Singles Chart, or even the Top 75, but they have to have been released as a single at some point during the year.

I will nominate something in a little while that I personally enjoyed in this year, but for now, it’s over to you. ^_^

Rihanna - Pour It up

MKS - Flatline

Diana Vickers - Music to Make Boys Cry

Justin Timberlake - Tunnel Vision

From their fantastic opening trio of singles, this one missed the Top 40 but just made the Top 75 at the lowest rung:

Her 2013 album was a #1, but still no Top 40 singles - this one reached #70:

Omg 'Liquid Lunch' I loved that song, on the Radio 2 playlist at the time!

The EDM form of trap started to take off this year. Remember this a lot from the Radio 1 playlist #43

This was on the Radio 1 playlist at the time then they replaced it with the much inferior Harlem Shake - got re-released after in 2014 and made #82

This was my introduction to this band. I remember that this was a free itunes download offer for a few days or so:

They would have an even better song in 2014 which I will post on that thread!

This very good Bond sounding single from Muse peaked at 58.

Cascada's Eurovision entry only making it to 129 but then again they only came 18th I think.

I much preferred these two 2013 Radio 1 playlisted early Wilkinson songs to his most well known track 'Afterglow'.

OMG just remembered this, think it must have been Radio 1 playlisted I really liked it at the time! A very catchy pop song:

There must be other Radio 1 playlisted flops from 2013, come on everyone!

Follow up to 'Candy' peaked at 64. Robbie would get another top 10 a few months later on that Dizzee Rascal song though.

My No.1 song of the year, a dream collaboration for me - Avicii and ABBA's Benny and Bjorn. We Write The Story was No.199 in the midweek UK charts following Eurovision but ultimately failed to chart. A magical song where the ABBA influences are clear, as well as Avicii's trademark production, this was a perfect song to open Eurovision 2013.

Not a very trendy thing to post but I absolutely love this Gary Barlow and Elton John duet. The follow up to a No.2 single in Let Me Go, a catchy chorus, two musical legends on the top of their game, an X Factor performance and it peaked at...No.69.

Another from Eurovision, kind of. Loreen returned to perform this great track during the final, I seem to recall it charting relatively decently on iTunes here but clearly not officially.

No.55 for this follow up to Big When I Was Little for Eliza Doolittle. Shame as I liked this a lot, big chorus.

Only No.93 for our own Eurovision entry, nice enough song as an album track to be fair. Probably not quite rousing enough to do much at Eurovision, but did better than Engelbert at least and didn't completely disgrace itself, avoiding the bottom five for legend Bonnie.

Not a bad single for Boyzone but it just narrowly squeaked into the top 40 at No.39, so the reunion buzz was over by this point.

One of my favourite ever Avril Lavigne songs, still sounds amazing to this day. Just a #68 peak though :(

Still gutted about this :(

I thought this would be a gigantic hit over the summer, but only #42 in the end:

Not surprising but I'm gutted this didn't even scrape the top 100!

Britney Spears - Perfume

---

This gets hated on by most and so I realise I will be the only one to probably say this but... this deserved WAY BETTER than #89. I don't get how it wasn't a hit. It's just pure pop joy, but maybe that was it's hindrance.

Demi Lovato - Made In The USA

---

For very similar reasons... this is my favourite Kesha song, so to see it struggle even to get to #70 the way it did but that God awful 'Crazy Kids' song go top 40 shortly after... VILE!!!!

Kesha - C'Mon

---

Kelly released her greatest Hits compilation at the tail end of 2012. 'Catch My Breath' should be mentioned for 2012's thread tbh... so underrated. But the 2nd single from it 'People Like Us' didn't chart here at ALL! Just so goooooood! Even if it was just them trying to chase another 'Stronger'!

---

I loved this! Didn't chart here, but Nicole's short-lived solo career was tailing off at this point I think. It's a shame coz it's a bop.

Alex Gaudino - Missing You (feat. Nicole Scherzinger)

---

A song that made top 40, a flop?? It wasn't really a big "flop" but considering her position at the time this was considered as such, if not an under performance at LEAST. It peaked at #25. It deserved a way higher peak. (Also, this sounds like Misha B - Do You Ever Think Of Me? a LOT!)

Katy Perry - Unconditionally

---

This debuted and peaked at #54. It deserved to propel Ciara back into the top 40! Such a banger.

Ciara - I'm Out (feat. Nicki Minaj)

On the topic of Ciara, Body Party has to be mentioned! #22 in the US but #174 in UK.

Was going to mention 'Perfume' too but never did. Would have liked that to get a top 40 peak at least.

MKS just remembered peaked at 50 too. Shame their comeback didn't amount to a top 40 hit.

This great debut from CHVRCHES only peaked at 38!

Made #53, remember this from the Radio 1 playlist. Great vocal from Fleur!

The year my favourite Pet Shop Boys album came out

Also the start of London Grammar

'One In A Million' and 'The Mother We Share' are both superb songs, they take me back to being 16. 2013 arguably my favourite ever year for chart music x
