Thank you for all the suggestions for your chart flops of 2013, now we look at the next year, 2014. What songs do you remember from this time and why do you remember them fondly? These could be songs that failed to make the UK Top 40 Singles Chart, or even the Top 75, but they have to have been released as a single at some point during the year.

I will nominate something in a little while that I personally enjoyed in this year, but for now, it’s over to you. ^_^

This was Cher's first good track for me so of course it missed top 40 :(

This is such an injustice to me. It's an incredible song. Seeing this miss the top 40... #41 at THAT!!!!! Crazyyyy </3 I wish she pushed more songs from that album because the album is SO good!
Ooh I’ll have to think about this one. 2014 was the year I started to zone out of the charts a bit.

I know, I was gutted :( She should've released it a few weeks sooner before Streaming was included - it was #32 on sales!

Eminem follow up his #1 with Rihanna with... a #63 flop which featured Nate Reuss from Fun.! Thought this was decent ish!

One of my favourite songs from 2014 was Drunk Tonight by Emmelie de Forest:

Also worth a mention is Dare (La La La) by Shakira:

Infamous for having its release date delayed over and over and over again, finally released on 21st December only to peak at #67!

  • 4 weeks later...

Nothing of Royal Blood's managed top 40 in the past decade but this was the closest with a #43 peak

Missed the top 100 entirely after 'Crying For No Reason' was a big hit.

George just missed out at an unlucky 41 with 'Listen To The Man' which features Gandalf aka Sir Ian Mckellen'. Was another nice track from him. Surprised it didn't get a few weeks at least in the Top 40!

Follow up to 'Nasty'. Ended up at 114 and then a cover of The Housemartins 'Caravan Of Love' 15 places lower! Was her only good song released that year for me.

'Lay Me Down' really deserved better, I think it was very heavily inspired by 'Love Me Again' from a year prior.

She was well and truly on the scrap heap at that point, but I thought it may have had an outside chance of top 40.

I agree Lay Me Down deserved better.
