The ascendant US superstar made UK chart history last week, and this week she’s her own competition for the top spot – with Please Please Please (1) and Espresso (2) neck-and-neck at the midweek mark. Another ascendant star having the year of her life could mark a major career milestone this week, Chappell Roan is set to claim her first-ever UK Top 10 hit with Good Luck, Babe! this Friday. Coldplay are back and the lead single from their forthcoming 10th album, feelslikeimfallinginlove, produced by Max Martin, could debut at Number 19. Charli xcx is also on the way to net a third Top 40 single from BRAT – girl, so confusing is heading for a Number 25 debut, following the release of its internet breaking remix with Lorde.
June 23, 20241 yr I thought there would have been more top 20 new entries, Charli with Lorde, Gracie with Taylor and possibly Post with Blake! It will also be good to see Jordan Adetunji chart top 40.
June 23, 20241 yr Would be quite fine with 'Espresso' retaking the #1 x Good to see Chappell Roan on course for top 10 after previously appearing to have stalled and the Kendrick concert giving a boost to 'Not Like Us' which will delay it going to ACR by at least two weeks *.* (appears there is a music video for it on the way too). The wording of that article seems to suggest no 'official' Lorde credit on 'Girl, so confusing' at least yet. Poor showing from Coldplay, it'll fall as the week goes on as well. Honestly I still keep expecting each new album from them to be the one that finally sees them stop appearing in the singles chart at all, they're in a fairly unique situation. Looks like this song will at least be a hit on a similar level to 'Orphans', I wouldn't call that poor.
