What have been the previous instances of the top 2 albums being by the same act?

I’m going to Guess Adele has done it with 21&19 or 25&21

Reckon Ed Sheeran might have done it before too

(Or maybe Michael Jackson after his death)

3/4/1999

1 2 Talk on corners The Corrs

2 5 Forgiven not Forgotten The Corrs

When Jacko passed away he had lots of album charting, even 1 & 3 but not the top 2

Does anyone know whether we have ever had a top ten where two acts have had three singles?

Was literally answered 2 pages back Adele 30 release week , Adele and Ed sheeran

Yes, I linked the actual chart when I answered yesterday but the week Adele released 30 - she had 2 newbies plus easy on me while Ed Sheeran had bad habits shivers and overpass graffiti in the top 10

Wow, the Corrs!! I would not have predicted that at all!

My favourite album chart week

Talk On Corners had been riding high for a year and was buoyed further around this time by the success of current hit Runaway on the re-released version of the album.

And Forgiven, Not Forgotten was on sale in the likes of HMV and Virgin and being heavily stocked in a way it hadn’t really been before and the stars aligned on one low sales week for them to end up with the top two. It helps too that the original version of Runaway was from that album too.

I always thought Talk On Corners was a bit meh, but I made the mistake of asking for the original version instead of the blue cover edition, as I had to be different when I was 13...

But I bought Forgiven Not Forgotten the next March, when it was £4.99 on tape in Woolies Exeter while we were on holiday. Fell in love with it immediately. Later asked for it on cd. Still one of the best put-together albums I've listened to all these years later.

I think Adele did it for Multiple weeks with 19/21

But dont think for 21/25

Don’t think Ed did either

Cannot think of anyone else

The Corrs were just huge at that point.

Oasis mania right now in both charts which is great to see.

Reckon Ed Sheeran might have done it before too

Also 4/4/92

Bruce Springsteen held the top 2

And 6 months earlier, Guns N Roses did it (28/9/91)

What have been the previous instances of the top 2 albums being by the same act?

The Beatles of course.

With the Beatles and Please please me albums were nos. 1 and 2 for 18 weeks in 1963/4.

Nice to see one of the Oasis songs getting a new peak, i would love to swap out wonderwall for little by little in the current returns for them.
The 2 new entries at 39 and 40 are fantastic songs, hope they can both hold on!

THIS! Particularly I'm loving that new Benson Boone song. :)
