Congrats Lindsey!!! Usually I’m fond of giving points to Taahino so it’s cool they’ve won even though I didn’t point this one. Where was this love for “Mother Ate” and ”Air Head”!!!

I was shocked that I got top 20 when reading through in bed last night, but apparently that wasn't enough and actually I got 14th on countback?! With 2 18s hiding in the jury? Thank you everyone, this smashed what I was expecting for 'Carbonated Love', really appreciate it

 

Excellent hosting all the way through blacksquare, really enjoyed your aesthetic approach to the contest and those videos were perfect for tension in revealing each place.

A first ever 12th place! And only 51 points within winning :o a very condensed top of the leaderboard this time.

 

Congrats to Lindsey, there was a lot of mid-tier nondescript pop in this contest but Predator & Situations were the 2 entries that stood out. All of my top 6 bar Scotland 2 finished in the top 10 so a strong showing at the sharp end of the scoreboard.

 

Great hosting blacksquare, being away (and very busy due to rather important personal matters) almost all contest meant I couldn't consume a lot of the very exciting looking content but I'll be sure to have a dig back through in the coming days/weeks.

Thanks for the fab hosting Blacksquare, and all the hard work! Congrats Lindsey a great winner, and also Mothertopia doing so well as runner-up, both of them just outside our medal positions, fab to see nations hitting new peaks. Great also to see Lotunia top 20, a great choice and our fave of this competition, and also POPHUb too. Condolences to some of our faves joining us in the bottom rung, Suedey (thanks for the First Class love!), Aesthetica, Harmonica, but plus side we got a new year-end position - just 30, 35 and 37 to go and we've had every position outside the 20's :lol:

 

Thanks also to those who voted for The First Class (several bronzes, much appreciated!), Beach Baby was always going to be a bit niche, what with being a sweeping 50-year-old orchestral bubblegum 60's surfer-nostalgia singalong, and all. For those who like chart facts, lead singer Tony Burrows was famous for being simultaneously in the UK singles chart (and on Top Of The Pops) in early 1970 as singer on Love Grows (Edison Lighthouse), and also Brotherhood Of Man (original line-up) and White Plains, not to mention other hits from The Pipkins, and especially The Flowerpot Men in 1967 - Let's Go To San Francisco is essentially Flower Power Summer Of Love from a UK act who pretty much are The First Class who exported the genre hits back to the USA. Doubt there's any other pop star who has sung lead on 6 different hitmaking acts...! Jonathan King doesn't count as his many hits were pseudonyms, not actual groups.

Congrats Lindsey!!! Absolutely ecstatic that my fave entry was the winner. I wasn't sure if it would have the wide appeal that it deserved. I'm amazed at how much pop dominated the results this time but not complaining x

 

Well I had quite the drought at the end and only one (!) point from the jury, to finish 39th which is around my usual territory. Still it was exciting to be in the final and especially to get two 18s. Thanks everyone who pointed my entry, I'm glad everyone got to hear it! Justice for Thelonia and Singerpurear who should absolutely not be in the bottom 5 with me.

I've been through the entire thread (without the spoiler on page 1) as if to absorb the results in real time - thank you to all 24 voters, especially Mack for the 18 :wub: the results were quite a journey but a familiar dumping out of the top 10 in the final reveal (was the same with Chelsea Wolfe and INXS), still 13th is very good, a unique position and another improvement on last month. Next time, I'll be going for a 10th entry in a row to both qualify and miss the top 10!
