As we will be approaching the end of the 2000s year end Top 100 survivors soon, I thought this might be a good time to consider what if anything should come next. This isn’t necessarily a commitment from me to host anything beyond the 2000s Top 100 but I thought it would be interesting to gather views!

Fortunately official year end lists all the way up to #200 were published throughout the 2000s, so it would be possible to keep going with more 00s survivors. Of course the songs would become slightly more obscure, but that might be an opportunity to revisit some less well remembered songs.

An alternative would be to start with the year end #1 again, but covering the years from 2010 to 2019. As the forum’s remit has recently expanded this would be an opportunity to reminisce on the 2nd decade of the century a bit more. However, as well as the OCC lists stopping at #100 for some of the years, the repeats become very frequent in some of the later streaming dominated years. For example the year end #6 for 2017 and 2018 is the same! To address this I think it would be necessary to start skipping repeats, meaning the polls won’t quite line up with the published year end lists.

If there is a third option you would prefer to either of these please reply with it! :)

With the second option I would suggest if there are repeats, we skip but don’t compensate with something placed lower. So some rounds would have nine or even eight songs but at least you are still comparing like with like.

I quite like the idea of a 00s 101-200 though, as it gives a nod to the still successful but not mega hits that might have been forgotten, so I vote option one.

Good suggestion.

(I also went for the first option though.)

I'm in favour of 101-200 too and like Rich said 8 or 9 songs if there's plenty of repeat songs is for the better I'd say.

If we were going to go with 2010's it could be worth doing up to 2015 as the latter 10's aren't really "throwback" or "retro" personally but if others don't mind that's also fine.

I originally thought the second option would come next, but given the 2000s data exists for 101-200s, I'd go with that. Plus it means when those are finally complete, the 2010s will feel a bit more retro to move on to!
Happy with 101-200 but I’d like to see us skip bigger songs that are repeats in the same way Rich suggested for the other idea
I compulsively voted for the second option but after actually reading the thread and thinking about it more the first one probably would actually be better :kink:
Voting the second option as I'd know every song as opposed to (most likely) knowing very few of the #101-#200s of the 2000s.

Basically my train of thought.

Would be good to continue with #101 - #200 but would like to see a champion of champions round first with the 10 winners from the ultimate survivors to decide the ultimate ultimate winner.

Then when #101 - #200 is done we do the same again leaving just 2 songs left for the ultimate ultimate ultimate head to head finale.

Yes! I love this idea.

Looking at the next set there are three repeats so I definitely think we should disqualify them beyond #100!

Given that Human has already won twice, would it not be a little unfair to disqualify the repeats on the basis that we never did earlier?
