Those Coldplay sales are incredible, easily over 200k for Friday and in the current climate that's just huge.

It makes them quite likely one of the 10 biggest albums of the year just on opening week alone

yep going by julian's weekly estimates theyll go straight into the year end albums list aat #10, probably even #9 or even #8 depending on how many more sales they can add (if they add another 10k sales by friday they'll be there at #8!)

It’ll be #2 next week anyway, everyone needs to stay calm

(Unless we get a raft of high new entries / climbers which I assume is highly unlikely!)

Charli + Ariana maybe?

I think with the sales the existing top 10 plus Sabrina are likely to add this week, Coldplay would need to be on at least 208k to go straight into the top 10:

8 8 209,000 Eminem - Curtain Call: The Hits (3.25m)

9 9 203,000 ABBA - Gold: Greatest Hits (5.86m)

10 10 199,000 Elton John - Diamonds (1.58m)

11 14 198,000 Sabrina Carpenter - Short ‘n’ Sweet

12 11 197,000 Taylor Swift - 1989 (Taylor’s Version (500k)

13 12 194,000 Chappell Roan - The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess

i know theres a cd single, but i ordered last tuesday and it came on thursday so it seems like its being shipped as orders come in, rather than holding them for a specific week which is a silly tactic imo, couldve held the orders and released all in the closest week to give them a boost

Aw I’m pleased you got your cd nice and quick but yeah it would have been better if they held them back and pushed for number 1.

Thats what they're doing in the US to try to pass A Bar Song (Tipsy) in a few weeks

Oh god Perrie is looking to enter lower than Angel of my Dreams, which is on its 12th week. :drama:

Chariana better be coming for #1 next week. :cheeseblock:

Not really sold on the charli collab doing that well doubt it’ll outperform apple or guess but sailor song could end up challenging for 1 as the weeks go on for sure. Hopefully DWAS gets 2 at some point probably needs a strictly boost for 1 at this point
^I forgot you're the official Ariana hater :D
Oh yeah a Strictly boost would be great for DWAS, it’s exactly the type of song that would go down well on there.

Feel like Coldplay are a shoe in for a 35K+ second week as well, as can’t see it dropping more than 85% in one week, which it’d need to do to fall behind that.

Yes it’ll be front loaded, but I don’t think many albums drop more than 85% week on week; so could hold resistance to Charli as I’d have predicted her to land around 30-40K; would have been much higher but the vinyls are more than £60 which are the main collectors item, much more expensive than other vinyls, she should have released the album as a stand alone rather than BRAT + BRAT remix album, making it double the price/tracklist size

I can't see the Charli and Ariana single doing as well as guess, I can't see Ariana's fans liking it all that much and it's not all that instant. Takes a good few listens IMO. Charli needs to release the remix album alone on vinyl, I'm not paying £70 for the rest of brat when I've already got it and many others will be the same

If an album is going to drop 85%, it'll be an album that has as low of streams as Coldplay's. We saw something similar in the US last month when Travis Scott's album fell something like 94%

Charli as much as 30-40k?

I just don't see it somehow.

My thought process was that the original BRAT is doing about 6.5K, so additional on top of this would just be the new sales/streams, so expecting 30K new sales and 6.5K continued to give a healthy amount of sales.

I doubt Coldplay will have too many physicals next week, I think the most they’ll do will be 15k tbh with streaming and any extra physical sales or downloads to add. I think Charli can do it as there’ll be enough cds sold imo. I doubt the cassettes or vinyls will add much sales, but streams will be healthy adding to the already solid streams it pulls weekly
