Really chuffed for Terra Avium to win even though I didn't vote for the song, or Hendinia actually, although I did give that a couple in the semi and it just missed. But RontBet did call the correct top three this time - just in the wrong order. We got Hendinia second correct at least.

 

Glad to see Aeroche third, another brilliant entry from them. And we had Altyr down as a contender too so good to see that fourth.

 

YASSSS at fifth, I really didn't expect that despite a couple of strong predictions. To me it kind of felt like the sort of song I wish Olly Alexander had sent to Eurovision, instead of Dizzy. So I wanted to give it a go and see, and I'm chuffed it picked up four 18s along the way. And a top three in the semi, when a lot of pop went out there - looks like the pop vote was very concentrated to a few songs. It's my first top five of the year, I thought I wouldn't get one this year!

 

Impressive for Sovarasma to get an Afrobeats song into the top ten, wowwww. POPHub lower than expected according to the last few predictions, really thought that would be top ten, strong pop. République d'Áskorza deserved better, it was my favourite - I loved the use of silence in the song. But glad it made the top 20.

honestly as soon as I heard the drop I knew it was gonna be huge, congrats Chez! It only missed out for me but I did point it in the semis :) I was unsure about Hendinia's chances considering how the pop voters have been placing their points this year but they really came through with this one! Very interesting results all around, Sovarasma and Trifoski really surprised me (maybe I shouldn't have been surprised with Trifoski given it sounds like indie voter base bait but I've been burned before)! Lookylion managed to turn around because the last time I saw them they were near the lower end of the scoreboard which was great to see, and surprisingly mid results from Botanikka and Kathaldazia when I thought they'd finish top 10? Hushky also done dirty but what else is new and so was Danaeviia to an extent :( Poor brave Macromia in last too, I'm sensing some huge things on the horizon though so keep your chin up!

 

I think I've said it all about shock results: WOW @ getting top 10 with this one! And with a replacement entry! We're actually salvaging this year :cheer: Thanks to everyone who voted for Baby Jane!

also I just peeped the semi results and Jadakissnia really shot themselves in the foot with that 12 to Bronzil

Wow, I really didn't expect the 18 to go to Terra!

 

Delighted with that and I would have felt bad if Terra missed out by a couple of points as their 15 was nearly interchangeable with my 18.

 

Can't believe that Elkka came 11th (just 1 point off a top 10!) with my best placement of the year, I really didn't expect that either.

 

I voted for 8/10 of the top 10 which is insane.

Just confirming my scoreboard matches with Leww's x

 

Only voted for one of the top 5 (REIN definitely joining the shadow artist permaban list now xx) but the lower half of the top 10 there is great, definitely better results than I'd have predicted for Trifoski, Fljótavík and Sovarasma and pleased to see Cor Lupus in the top 10 this time as well (will we get any acknowledgement of the fact that this did, in fact, do comfortably better than Izzy Camina? xx). And although she didn't quite make my votes I am happy to see Ela Minus going 2 for 2 on top 10 hits! Both of the former Persephonia artists in this final ending up with similar (slightly worse) results as when I sent them, I was kind of expecting Sampa to do a little better but she is just a kween of qualifying and then finishing low down I suppose x

 

I almost did a last minute prediction that Greenfroze would do quite well but resisted it because I thought that was just me being biased because it grew on me a lot at the last minute - pretty happy with their result anyway, only a couple of points off the top 10 and I see it improved a lot from the semi-final so perhaps a grower for others as well! And aw I really did think Godspeed You! Black Emperor would be up there but maybe 13 and a half minutes is a little too much, I guess top half is a decent enough result xx Happy to see Dobago top 20 too, I had no idea how to predict that one as I thought it had shades of aamourocean but did think it probably wouldn't connect quite as much as that did.

 

Underrated corner this time is Cumulonimbia, Scotland 2 and especially Macromia, still glad they got a first qualifier but oof at giving them a wooden spoon straight off :drama:

 

Oh at me actually qualifying quite comfortably! Was thinking early on in the reveal that I was getting most of my big support from the opposite semi which was indicating I must have only scraped through but I guess it was just too early to see my semi 2 fans. Didn't get any gold medals in the final but 3 of them in the semi is a result! Happy to have avoided the bottom 5 as I really had rock bottom expectations, maybe next month I will finally actually try and send something more competitive. xx

Elsewhere on the scoreboard... goodness me, that's close between 9th/10th and 19th! Happy that my big points to Neliönoir and Cor Lupus made a difference. My other medallist Kathaldazia way too low, I thought Izzy Camina would have more support than that.

 

I would have been happy enough with 29th before even seeing the semi spreadsheets as I accepted my entry had limited appeal, but ouch that's a gut wrencher to have squeezed through the semi with just 6 voters, my two biggest supporters amongst them, including Jade which (as mentioned) took her out of the final :( so even a repeat final position of 29th with 16 voters is a marked recovery after that. I'm so sorry for Jade and I'm lucky that 41 points was enough, let alone 17 aside from the two 12s - going to take a while to digest all that...

 

Anyway, thanks once again Leww for hosting - I don't know the film, but the theme fit very coherently and has made me interested to watch it!

Aw, I was rooting for Rob/Hendinia at the very end there! TRUST is a great track and is easily my favourite song on the contest but I thought I'd prioritise my 18 for a song that I wasn't familiar with beforehand. I'm glad Rebecca Black is finally getting some attention for her great output after years of ridicule. Her past few eras have been full of hidden gems.

 

I'm glad Kangaroo did decently. It's only an album track but it instantly stood out to me on Remi's album. Surely a future single if she's going to push any more. Thanks to all my voters but especially to Zanmatony for the big 18 and also Altyr, Niceland, and Trifoski for some other high scores!

Oops at the foot-shoot in the semi but can't be too mad about losing a spot in the final to my 12/later 18 pointer!

 

I see my top 2 in the final finished in 29th and 30th, deserved better tbh x As for the top 10, I voted for 6/10 which feels like the most in a little while, so overall - taste :clap:

Oh and of course thank you to Lewww for hosting, as impeccable as always. I haven't seen the film but I know of it and I loved the little touches you added such as Demi One, Semi Sue and the deadline being the time period between when you must switch - very clever and inventive.

Hendinia rise to 2nd place ahead of Bøtanikkä and slightly close the gap to Aeroche - fewer than 100 points separating the top 2 so could easily go either way. FSR Rontvia knock Kathaldazia out of the top 5 but no changes to the countries in the top 10.

So I know this entry wasn't exactly inspired (even with just the minor Buzzjack noise, he had quite a following and I did discover it through 6Music), but it was one of my favourite songs of the year which I really felt compelled to share, that first listen was just complete goosebumps and it's stuck with me so well over a fairly difficult few months for me personally, so I'm really pleased to see it resonate so much, and I hope it was a discovery to a few of you and if not, you have great taste anyway :D With how long it took my first win to come, I certainly didn't expect to see the second one so comparitively soon after! Commiserations to Rob, that was a photo finish!

 

Admittedly more of a fan of the bottom 5 of the top 10 this time, all were in my votes and fantastic in particular to see Sovarasma and Trifoski do so well and I wouldn't have called that.

 

18th is a good position for GSY!BE, pleased it got top half. Could've done with a few of my other big pointers a bit higher x

 

Excellent hosting Leww (despite almost killing me xx), thank you for promoting this brilliant film and sticking to the concept so well (Demi Moore for Oscar campign starts now). Not sure how I'm going to follow this and it's not the best timing, but I shall persist so watch this space (once we've had a bit of a recovery from song contest overload x)!

I think of all the 2nd placers I've had (up to 7 now!), this is the one I was most willing to JUST eek over the edge, but I was never actually leading and can't feel like it was ever really taken away from me. Terra Avium had it for so long that it only feels fair it ended that way, but what a nailbiter! Well done Tom, not a song I considered voting for not a bad song by any means, and can easily see why it had such appeal. I personally knew when it came down to Lewis that there's absolutely no way he'd built such suspense just for me to win, that just wouldn't be a satisfying payoff :lol:
