I can’t believe we’re here again.

I’m not trying to catastrophise, but I genuinely fear for the future of humanity with Trump as president. The world is in a precarious enough position as it is, without a loose cannon at the helm of the most powerful nation on earth.

All the more chilling is the not insignificant chance J D Vance becomes president before 2028 and enacts the full horror of Project 2025.

Well, I'm glad for my sanity that I managed to keep some distance from the election this year because this result is absolutely bleak.
I had a nightmare he won and woke up to it. Damn. Well, I'm proud of the campaign she ran.

I am surprised, as the exit polls swemed to paint peoplw coming out for democracy...

I think the economy really tanked it for her, but it will take some time to analyse I think.

Now, things might get really bad, but remember, we knew Biden was goingto lose. We knew the polls were tight/ reaaally trending Trump recently. WHY it all flipped to Trump, again, will need to be analysed, as the Ovtober surprises were bad for HIM. His campaign was low energy too. Hmm.

This is 2016 all over again, a pure nightmare scenario... I can't believe that the American people are stupid enough to vote him back into the highest office in the world, especially with the toxic and cruel campaign that him and Vance led.

America is well and truly f'd

The likes of the hateful Trump, Vance and Musk emboldened and in power… nightmare fuel. I’m so disappointed. 💔
I absolutely 100% expected this to happen, but it doesn’t make it any less distressing and terrifying. He should never have been allowed to run again in the first place.
America is broken. I don't understand why he was allowed to run again.

This is disastrous. I expecte dit, but I had a lil' hope democrars would at least win the senate or the house, but neither look like happening.

Europe better start investing in themselves right about now, cause the US ain't gonna care one bit

JFC America. You again had one job and you again f***ed it up.

I really don’t understand Americans at all.

Harris didn’t build up votes in the Dem strongholds so it’s clear white working class rust belt America didn’t vote for her, Biden might have lost but he woulda been voted for by more people the Dems needed.

It seems that enough of the American median voters are set to swing back the other way from 2020 because of incumbent dissatisfaction and perceived wisdom that the 2016 Trump admin wasn't that bad on the economy. Always a possible result but one I was hopeful wouldn't come to pass.

Without doing any huge narrative analysis, which I never think is particularly helpful given how few votes comparatively switch every election, there doesn't seem to have been much the Harris campaign could have done to change the result - this was probably baked in with the idea to punish the Biden incumbency. It does majorly mismatch the vibes I was reading from both campaigns but on a big enough scale, that didn't matter.

Good luck America, sheesh.

Surely the worrying thing for the U.K. here is this emboldens Reform and how they try and gain influence within the Tories!

Farage was in the celebration crowd during his speech.

I didn’t follow this election as closely as the last 2 because I just had a horrible feeling that it wasn’t even going to be close and sadly that was the case. I suppose it was always going to be an uphill battle considering Kamala’s only had 3 months to campaign, and they frustratingly seem to have fell into the same trap as Hillary by assuming the average voter is smart enough not to vote for Trump. I feel even worse about this than I did about 2016, it’s just going to embolden all of those Elon Musk and Andrew Tate types and their followers.

Also, sadly I don’t think America is ready to vote for a woman (especially a WOC) to be president yet
