Messy ong :wub: I’ve been a fan of Lola since 2021 so seeing her finally get some recognition is so great and lovely to see! And especially with messy too as it’s one of her very best and one of mg fave songs of the year

'Like Him' seems to be gaining traction pretty much alongside 'Messy' so they probably both play into each other's success - the former is now comfortably the highest charting song from 'CHROMAKOPIA' on Spotify (although it's behind 'See You Again' lol, didn't realise that was still hanging around so high) so looks like it'll be the hit from the album in the long run, interested to see if it'll take off properly in the new year.

 

(in the UK anyway that is - 'Sticky' is shaping up to be the comfortable biggest hit from the album in the US, reminiscent of 'Knife Talk' becoming the big hit from 'Certified Lover Boy' in the US but never making much of an impression here)

 

It is at least moderately interesting that Mariah is being more competitive with Wham! again this year so far. Wouldn't rule out them both having turns at #1 in December again this year now.

seems like Lola Young-Messy is the song of choice for autopayola at the moment, at least for me :D

The soundtrack for the Wicked film is out on Friday, which I imagine will do very well.

Oh wow amazing to see the Wicked movie hype resulting in streams of the Broadway cast soundtrack!

 

One of my chart predictions for 2024 was the Ariana/Cynthia version of ‘Defying Gravity’ making the top 40, will be interesting to see what people flock to, ‘Popular’ seems like a contender too as a lyric video for that has been pushed a bit on the official social media accounts

That song is from the original musical, I imagine it'll be overshadowed by the new versions when the soundtrack releases.

Massive impact for Christmas songs on Spotify with everything doing better than it did on Sunday due to the snow. Will be interesting to see if they retain the momentum or it is just a one day boost.

 

Also lowest daily total for Mr. Brightside since Christmas Day last year, it has been on a constant downwards trajectory for a few months now - if it doesn't rebound heavily post Christmas, its popularity may have peaked.
