When I asked Alexa to play Christmas music on Saturday, Last Christmas was the first song on Amazon Music... even before their Tom Grennan exclusive!

 

Amazon will want people to recognise the first song they play so listeners stay on their own playlists surely.

Kesha - as much as I love her - is new at No.48 - it's pretty clear a lot of listeners do just stick this playlist on and listen in order. A restaurant I was in the other day had it on too, although at least on shuffle.

 

Kesha's new Xmas song is excellent so I'm totally here for her scamming another "hit".

 

When I asked Alexa to play Christmas music on Saturday, Last Christmas was the first song on Amazon Music... even before their Tom Grennan exclusive!

 

From my past experience, 50% of the time Alexa starts with Wham!, and 50% of the time she starts with Mariah.

Surprised it’s on their Christmas playlist as it’s not a Christmas song and has no references to Christmas whatsoever. Lindsey Buckingham wrote it for the National Lampoon’s Vacation films and Christmas Vacation is the only film in the series where the song doesn’t appear

Looking online it appears that many people mistakenly attribute it to Christmas Vacation and it's become a more lowkey Christmas song as a result. Mandela effect is in full swing here :D
