December 14, 2024Dec 14 That Creator Universe track would be at least somewhat bearable if it wasn’t for that woman with the horrid accent who gets about three lines. Who is she?
December 14, 2024Dec 14 Author #02. Kygo and Ava Max ~ Whatever [116 points] Most hated: CowTzy, rio309 [+12] UK run: 39-27-28-24-20-17-{15}-20-17-19-21-20-22-68-74R(2)->15 ZDZiXmCl4pk After a run of much-loved releases on Buzzjack, Ava Max unfortunately managed to end up on a hit that left quite the opposite impression with a large majority of the user base. Also acting as Norwegian producer Kygo's first hit in over three years, although sonically he continues to remain firmly within the 2010s when he was more popular as he has seemingly been out of original musical ideas for ages. Of course you know the real reason why this is here as the song's chorus rewrote the lyrics to Shakira's breakout hit 'Wherever, Whenever' with lyrics that weren't quite as well-written or sung, which was bound to be annoying to some. I don't actually dislike this tbh so I'm pleased it didn't manage to top the chart ahead of the travesty that is last to be revealed...
December 14, 2024Dec 14 So the top 3 are exactly the same as in my vote, including the order! (Plus I had #4 & #5 at 5th & 7th).
December 14, 2024Dec 14 Author #01. Nicki Minaj ~ Big Foot [158 points] Most hated: CoolHand501, jimwatts, Michael Bubré [+12] UK run: {56}->1 vKkoBUPav3s Here we have it then, it is "congratulations" to Nicki Minaj for her second Hatechart win and first without the "help" of 6ix9ine. The track was quickly written and recorded as a diss track towards Megan Thee Stallion following her song "Hiss" which included a subtle Nicki diss. However even by standards of a diss track it was rather ugly from lyrics mocking the 2020 incident where Megan was shot in the foot and the recent passing of her mother to the bizarre ending where she just rambles for a minute completely a capella. The instant internet reaction was overwhelming negative with this topping various online lists for the worst song to have come out this year, and as it did chart here for one week presumably from nothing but curiosity streaming it also tops out as Buzzjack's least favourite 'hit' of the year. The track ran away with it too with a 42 point lead over Kygo and it had the joint-most number of haters with Creator Universe. All three now join the below Hall of Hate... December 14, 2024Dec 14 Much deserved for Nicki. Has the gall to call Megan a pdfile but is married to a sex offender herself. Absolutely disgusting
December 14, 2024Dec 14 Am I missing something with the hate for Kygo/Ava. I don’t love it but also find it pretty harmless?
December 15, 2024Dec 15 Not sure I've heard the song that won. Maybe it's even worse than #2 and #3. They definitely deserve their top 3 placings though. "Whatever" basically epitomises everything I hate about lazy producers and rent-a-vocalists taking classic songs and dragging them down the drain.
December 15, 2024Dec 15 Deserving winner, "Big Foot" and Nicki in general this year have been horrendous. Megan stays winning and unbothered.
December 15, 2024Dec 15 Am I missing something with the hate for Kygo/Ava. I don’t love it but also find it pretty harmless? I think a lot of people just hate Ava's style of interpolating everything. Nothing she does is offensive to my ears, but it does feel like she's ok with only being the person who is successful because you have nostalgia for the songs she's building off of, and I csn see why that bothers people
December 15, 2024Dec 15 I'll always defend Whatever, it's a great song and the interpolation actually works really well in my view - and I say this as someone who *loves* Whenever, Wherever (and will always find it to be the superior version). I've never heard Big Foot which is why I didn't vote for it, but it's a deserving winner based on literally everything I know about it.
December 15, 2024Dec 15 It's all Kygo who decided that Whitney, Tina, Donna, and Paul x Michael weren't enough for him. Bringing back his Cloud 9 sound just made it even worse with fans bringing the 'Golden Era' term back. :puke2: Feel sorry to all bedroom producers out there who haven't yet had their first festival lineup appearance. :( Didn't really care about Ava though, nor did I on the Alphaville sample, as she wasn't even the lead artist.
December 15, 2024Dec 15 Kygo was only at the very end of the EDM Golden Era I thought the Golden Era was 2011- early 2015 Edited December 15, 2024Dec 15 by TheSnake
December 15, 2024Dec 15 Only the second ever winner of this chart to miss the official top 40, making it an even more impressive achievement as plenty won't have even heard it!
December 15, 2024Dec 15 Oh wow the top 2 exactly matches my own top 2, we did good! I wasn't actually expecting 'Big Foot' to win let alone by so much, simply because it seemed quite a few people didn't vote for it presumably because they hadn't heard it - speaks volumes that it has still managed to be a landslide winner despite being only a blink and you'll miss it "hit", it's about as close as we're ever going to get to something that can really be called objectively the worst hit of the year, absolutely gross and almost entirely lacking in musical merit. 'Whatever' really grated on me for two reasons, 1) that it just sounded like the same Kygo song that he's released 500 times before that already got stale for me the second time so to still be hearing it in the charts in 2024 was just beyond tedious, and 2) I just really can't stand these dance remakes that slightly tweak the lyrics so it's almost the same but more basic, it's so uncanny (see also 'I'm Good (Blue)' and 'I Don't Wanna Wait'), would really have preferred if they just made it a straight cover. As I said in my votes I don't really remember much about Creator Universe aside from that I didn't like it, I'm not planning to ever relisten to it to remind myself exactly why that was  I didn't particularly like the Ice Spice song but it was too boring to really elicit a strong negative reaction either (despite her really trying with some of those lyrics). I personally really enjoyed 'I LUV IT' but obviously can see why so many people didn't, and likewise to a slightly lesser extent for 'CARNIVAL'. Agreed, it's a great song, just vastly overplayed which I guess is the issue Eh there were definitely a lot of people who never liked it! (if anything I see more positivity for it on here than elsewhere, and not only because of Joseph x)
