I wonder how the Grammys will impact Beyoncé on albums possible top 40 reappearance come Friday?

Pleased that looks like an easy #1 for The Weeknd. It’s a great album and still discovering things with each listen this week.

Also yessss at Gaga already at #31!

very mediocre figures for the Weeknd :o shocking that he's gonna do less than Robbie and Central C
I think the weeknd will hold up long term and build up decent sales where robbies was short lived, i did think the weekend would manage 40k though.
Kim Wilde slightly higher today than i was expecting so im starting to think top 40 might look safe for her.

Was hoping Top 20 would be on lock for her after the strong start and that it would out peak her last studio album - neither look likely now.

It’s a step up sales wise from what Dawn FM debuted with iirc right?!

There’s slightly more this time around in terms of different CD covers though despite the CD missing off many tracks.

Longevity is more his thing than huge debuts though in the UK.

Yes, it's already beaten the opening of 'Dawn FM' (20.7k) and is only a few hundred away from the opening of 'After Hours' (25.7k) so it's going to be his highest first week sales since 2016. He's never been a huge album seller (in one week).
I believe if Dawn FM's physical release was in the same week as the streaming release it would've added 8k to its debut. Hurry Up Tomorrow looks like it will even beat that!
if you factor The Weeknd is the act with the biggest monthly listeners on Spotify, those streams for the new album are so poor

Sorry for invoking The Website, but misinformation bugs me.

Also there is absolutely no sense to compare worldwide streaming audience to chart positions in specific countries.

Exactly my thoughts lol.

Tbf a lot of the biggest streaming artists, back catalogues do better that their current stuff

Monthly listeners is a terrible metric as it doesn’t actually reflect an artist’s popularity as it can be massively skewed by an artist having big hits that are on most people’s playlist.

For example Lord Huron has 29 million monthly listeners which would imply that they’re a pretty popular band when in reality the 29 million listeners are mostly from people listening to The Night We Met and not caring about any of their other songs.

Monthly listeners better reflects the popularity of an artist’s biggest hits than the actual popularity of the artist.

not necessarily, it seems a pointless metric to judge The Weeknd's new album by when the monthly listeners figure will predominantly be based on passive/casual streams for his mega-hits ('Blinding Lights', 'Can't Feel My Face etc.)

he's done fine with this era all considered

The Weeknd is doing a lot better than Dawn FM. That album's highest song did ~800 million streams after so long. "Timeless" will hit 1 billion at least (already on ~530 million) and I can see his album streaming more overall as well.
I think some users (naming no names :D) seem to be relishing the opportunity to brand this Weeknd era a flop despite his album sailing to #1 and spawning 4 (as of tomorrow) top 20 singles x
