Biography

A style-shifting pop star who got her start as a teen dance prodigy, Tate McRae is every bit a dynamic multi-hyphenate. Born in 2003 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, she worked her way up to the finals on So You Think You Can Dance at age 13, following other impressive milestones as a live performer. McRae answered her overnight TV success by uploading a series of singles that showcased the preternatural depth of her singing and songwriting. Signed to a major label when she was 16, she struck gold globally with 2020’s “you broke me first,” adding ominous trap beats to an intimate lament. But rather than be pigeonholed by weepy ballads, McRae quickly showcased her full range with convincing forays into dreamy alt-rock and purring R&B on 2022’s i used to think i could fly. Coming off even more emboldened on 2023’s THINK LATER, she greets her entry into her twenties with a well-earned sense of confidence on tracks like the chirping kiss-off “exes.” Echoing her penchant for inhabiting a deep bench of musical styles without breaking her stride, she seems just as much at home in the role of a nonchalant heartbreaker as in the role of the one at home nursing a broken heart. - Apple Music

Thank you for your hard work during all this!

Shame we've been prevented from participating properly this week :(

Why is PPP back in the chart and why specifically is it now doing better than Espresso & Taste?

Not Like Us will certainly go down in chart folklore as one of the most interesting chart runs to #1 ever

Oh and Drizzy effortlessly getting a top 3 album and nearly 3 more 20 top singles despite being 'cancelled', only a true chart legend.

Thankfully not a particularly eventful chart though. Imagine if it was on the week Gaga released a couple of weeks back for instance!

Echoing the thanks to Joseph for persevering, I sympathise totally with how frustrating it must have been!

It got a boost due to a remix from Dolly Parton this week!

Sabrina re-releases her album this week and with it came a new version of the track with Dolly Parton + a video too

I was at work till 5.30 anway so wouldn’t have been around for the chart, but shame it wasn’t working on here, well done Joseph for managing through all that!

Nice to see not like us ag the top as Luther and all the stars both top 5!

I'd have said this chart is more eventful than the average week of recent years? Kendrick x3 (4 including '30 For 30'), Chappell, Sabrina x2, PND/Drake x3 and AJ Tracey all making notable climbs / entries. 'Not Like Us' hitting #1 alone is a pretty huge chart moment no matter what you think of it.

Would've missed the show again this week anyway but well done Joseph for keeping this going despite the massive Buzzjack lag!

So happy Not Like Us got its deserved moment at the top! Luther at a new peak and All The Stars back at its peak also great to see. Drake's album only in at 3 and his highest at 19? He a fan and he a FLOP! The new AJ Tracey one is pretty good too, nice return from him and Jorja

Great number 1 loved the song last year and it will go down in history. Plus his first ever UK #1 has a diss track ever got to the UK #1 before? Actually maybe Eamon I guess

Also 'Give It To Me' by Timbaland and co. in 2007

Thanks Joseph!

Thought they may have played the remix of PPP but R1 have a habit of not playing a remix when it is the reason for a song rebounding.

25 years since Pure Shores!

Eminem has had some diss tracks

At Christina in one of his @1s I think

Well done Kendrick, it happens a rap diss track gets go #1 not an vanilla Gracie Abrams track.
