Marriage/long term cohabitation between two men is actually statistically the most stable relationship. Lesbians are about on par with mixed sex couples.

So not only is this homophobia but it’s also pure shite

  • idk. I find it quite a challenge to have any level of respect for a homophobe tbh. Bigots don’t deserve respect and don’t deserve a platform to spread their hate. the bbc has a lot to answer for. Th

It's been said elsewhere but it's pretty funny for Farage, a twice-divorced straight man to be lecturing the country about how opposite-sex relationships are the most stable.

Jeremy Kyle may stand for Reform at the next election. Great news. I'd vote for him.

As if I couldn't hate that man any more than I do.

Why? What has he done to you? Hate is a very strong word.

Literally, why? A cheating, gambling addict who is famous for taking advantage of people on TV and being a total hypocrite!? Then again, anyone voting Deform clearly doesn't care about those things. 🫠

You don't even know what he's standing for.

Mixed bag about chasing off the Reform fans, I'd love to see them try to defend Farage wanting to abolish ILR. Many people will know someone this affects, which is the thing with anti-immigration policies, you can pretend it's all affecting illegals and undesirables but once you open it up for that to be acceptable, you're giving a potential anti-immigration government carte blanche to go further; it shouldn't take someone you know for the reality to hit home and to be clear, we are all human, no one should be reduced to their immigration status; but most people will only realise it when that nice Ukrainian lady down the road who married a British man in 2023 (to use what is I imagine a not uncommon example but you could substitute any ethnic group and gender in there if they're not born British but are making Britain their home) gets her visa and status in the country thrown into limbo.

So so worrying that the public have been gaslit into thinking restrictions on immigration is what will solve their lives and are willing to risk open fascism to get there.

Reform getting a whole 55 minute screed on primetime TV yesterday too because our media is complicit in their rise.

Yeh the Lib Dem’s have 73 MPs the most since 1922 and yet they let the 5 reform MPs and their leader dictate the news agenda.

I’d imagine the polcy will get rid of ILTR and replace it with a work style visa that shows they are working and prob can speak English if reform are in charge of this rather than just ILTR then citizenship after 5 years.

Frankly I'm utterly disgusted. I don't understand (well, I do, propaganda, vested interest, low info commenters etc.) how it is that people can't see that Farage is CLEARLY a traitor who doesn't have the best interests of the country or its people at heart WHATSOEVER.

For gods sake just picking 5 things off the top of my head:

  1. He's hardly ever in the country always swanning off to America and other places

  2. He hasn't done any work whatsoever for the constituency in the UK he is paid to represent in Parliament and serve on a local level

  3. He considers Putin a friend and supports him and spreads his policies wherever possible in this country (how is that even legal when we are arming Ukraine who are fighting a proxy war for us?)

  4. He pushed for Brexit and was instrumental in spreading lies about funding the NHS. Now he is an MP and doesn't push for that

  5. He was a banker and helped create the financial crisis! Then ran away and got off scot free and profited from it too

  6. (Bonus: despite already being a multimillionaire he insisted on being paid a colossal salary to do I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!)

Sadly nothing in that clip surprises me. They don't believe their whole "protect our women" slogan at all.

It's more of a general rant, I'm just losing faith in humanity as each day goes on. You read about everything that's happening in the US and think "god, at least we'll never be that bad" but honestly we are so headed that way and I don't think I quite realised just how quickly it's happening until recently. I'm quite fortunate in that a lot of my friends and the people I surround myself with all share similar views on y'know basic human rights etc but I'm constantly being challenged on my views at work right now (by a group of ignorant young white men no less) and it's really getting to me. I work in an environment where as a gay woman I am the minority, I have a colleague who is also a gay woman but the 10 other men we work with are all the text book definition of socially privileged. There are a few that I know agree with me and my colleague but they won't verbally back us, they just shy away from the topics or try to put a stop to the discussion which doesn't actually help. It's became more of a problem at work recently as we have a new apprentice who is 19 years old, thinks he knows everything but has some of the most horrific and backwards views I've ever heard but he doesn't have the knowledge to back up why he feels the way he does, hes obviously just regurgitating stuff he's heard elsewhere. He constantly uses offensive slurs regarding race, disabilities, sexuality, just everything and I call him out every time which just makes him try and debate with me, thinking he's smart or something. 100% he's doing it as a way to try and talk down at me as a woman and thinks it's going to win him brownie points with the other bigoted guys in my team. I just don't really know how to approach it as the only other person that speaks up is the other woman I work with and nothing I've tried so far is getting through to him.

People are entitled to their own opinions but I just don't think human rights and treating people equally should ever be a matter of debate and the use of slurs is just never justified? There's so many other words you can use in place of those ones that won't offend anyone but you're actively choosing the ones that will cause a reaction? He says this in front of our manager as well and he just doesn't say anything, the 19 year old's argument is always "well there's no ____ people in here so how can I offend them?"

I've told him I'm going to start making a list of every slur or offensive term he uses and write an appropriate word next to it that he can use instead and he'll need to study it every day until he learns what's okay and what isn't and I'm genuinely serious πŸ˜…

Are you a member of a union? If so, talk to them. If not, think about joining.

I honestly do not understand why people come to the U.K. because of how expensive it is.

It cost me 255 EUR to apply for naturalisation in Berlin and I’ll spend about 150 EUR applying for my ID card and Passport next week. Up until now my life here has cost me 37 EUR as that was the cost of getting my Brexit residency card. The German equivalent of ILR costs 56,50 EUR

If I wanted to move back to the U.K. with my Italogerman partner, it’d cost over 5k

Genuinely makes me question why people move to somewhere with such a high barrier to entry
