  • That’s not bad for Gaga. I’m assuming they’ve only counted HausofKubrick’s sales so far so we’ll find out the true sales figure in the Tuesday mids.

I'm amazed anyone can paint Gaga's sales as underwhelming, they're fantastic for any artist, especially one who's over 15 years deep into their chart career!

Incredible opening sales for MAYHEM! To invalidate them is pretty meaningless and random because on any other week for pretty much any other artist the numbers would be hailed as very healthy and impr

Like Jennie top 40!!! Here for this smashing.

Hoping "like JENNIE" &" Handlebars" remain top 40 come Friday. The former should climb and the latter had a video release which should also help.

Great sales for Gaga, looking comfortable for 55-60k. Still hoping "Die with A Smile" gets a reset for 2 songs top 5 although may prevent "Abracadabra" from re-peaking.

Why are the number variants suddenly an issue with Gaga? Numerous people have made comments now and it’s really not uncommon.

I don’t think anyone has said it’s an issue? Nearly every time a big album is released for any artist there is some discussion around number of formats despite it being the norm rather than the exception.

Well someone commented ‘The number of variants is a piss taking marketing joke’ and someone else commented saying it’s only because of the all the vinyl variants she can get those sales. I didn’t see one comment about Sam Fenders variants and bundled items for instance when he had the same.

I visit the forums most weeks and generally the variants aren’t spoken about much at all now.

Bundling is a piss take marketing joke for all artists each week from record companies but we all buy into it accordingly for our faves.

It was mentioned a few times for Sam (but equally it was at the time of the forum change over that he reached #1 so lots of members were not active).

Also it’s not just because it’s Gaga it comes up - I’m sure you’ll remember well the Kylie/LM battle and bashing of both artists over variants.

Little Mix / Kylie was years ago though?! My point was in the last couple of years it’s just standard practice even with smaller artists/groups. I didn’t see any negative comments alluding to Sam’s sales being because of multiple variants…Even after when the sales thread was published.

It’s not just this forum Mayhem’s release seems to have brought out some trolls trying to discredit her sales.

I think gagas sales are incredible please check my earlier comments in this thread!

But i also think bundling is a joke from her or any artist !!!

I am not attacking gaga i am very aware it has become the norm so dry your tears.

Erm it's not exclusive to Gaga , Taylor swift had half a year of it with TTPD 🤷‍♂️

Madonna stans just make me howl.

This variant argument is so stupid lmao. In recent memory, Taylor has been relentlessly attacked for it during her releases and now the same seems to be for Gaga. Honestly, I don't see variants being an issue. They're in a business at the end of the day. MAKE THAT COIN! It's down to the purchasers who decide what they want to buy. If you want to buy just one copy... buy just one copy. If you want to buy every variant going... buy every variant going. They're there to be purchased and I like that you get a choice to choose from if you decide to do the former (oh and if we were to dig into it there are definitely worse offenders than Taylor and Gaga when it comes to how many variants of an album they release, that go under the radar and not attacked for it)

My issues lie within fanbases trying to shame other fanbases for buying every variant their faves release but when it comes to their own faves, they're happy to buy every variant themselves... keep the same energy?? But that's just stan culture at it's absolute worst.

So, I think Tell Me is guaranteed top 40 this Friday. D Not sure about JENNIE songs though.

Oh bless you are one of those.

Don't think the multi variant vinyl thing is a bad thing per se, it's what's keeping record stores and labels afloat at the moment

and it's especially important for indie artists. If you think Taylor or other pop girls release lots of variants, you should check indie artists,

cos its even more extreme. But for me, multi-variant vinyls give the fans a lot of choices to pick up the vinyl they like the best,

I think it's a minority that buys them all, I think most fans just buy 1. So gives you options rather than forces you to buy them all.

There's also a big misconception about multivinyl releases from Taylor. Thing is she sells a lot, that's it. Lover live in Paris had 1 vinyl, 1 format, 1 colour variant, and that sold nearly 50K, and that was being limited and many (me included) not being able to buy one.

No the Taylor Swift thing was not the same. What Gaga is doing is normal and just for 1st week sales mostly.

What Taylor Swift did was pure chart manipulation over a period of months. It’s not comparable. Also saying get that coin is bizarre she’s a billionaire what kind of Stan culture encourages a billionaire to fleece her fans. Ridiculous thought process

love it how people with no clue about vinyls and variants always have an opinion, especially about Taylor.

I don’t want to get into an argument but I’m absolutely not ‘one of those’ This week has been a ride across socials with any positive comment I make about Gaga’s album being bashed by 103783 Madonna fans. I like Madonna I have no issue but I really don’t understand why her fans seem to passionately hate Gaga so much.

In any case, I felt compelled to say something because the multi variant comments haven’t surfaced in ages yet indie artists / popstars / bands all do it so I just don’t understand why it’s been such a hot topic especially when the variants are mostly expensive double Lp’s in Gaga’s case.

I hadn’t really noticed but those are also really decent sales for Jennie.

Chart manipulation 🤣🤣 yep fans were forced at gunpoint to buy every variant 🤣🤣 heck I'm a massive Taylor fan and I haven't even bought 1 variant just streamed the anthology to death is she manipulating me 😱
