I'll ask down my local tonight why ordinary streams are down

Not to pile on more, but do think in general it's a folly to only stick to the subsidiary chart that best presents the narrative. Last week the song was #5 on the official streaming chart but only #14

I don't get the assumption that songs stream less because of holidays, surely it would be the other way round with more people off

If you have family around for Easter it's likely you'll be talking to them instead of listening to music. Same thing if you go to church for Easter, you won't be streaming then

People talk to their family damn I just put my headphones in and ignore em 🤣🤣

Always wondered this, it’s the opposite at Xmas when music consumption hugely increases, why not at Easter?

Exactly your spending time together at Christmas as well 🤷 go to church as well

Ed has really pushed the release date of the CD by a week just because Ordinary has avoided the ACR last week ? LMAO Ed is so obsessed by the charts.

Don't artists sometimes push their album release dates back to avoid other big names and to give themselves a better chance of a week at #1?

Are they all "obsessed with the charts"?

Don't artists ship physical formats early sometimes to maximise their chart position, or release remixes to avoid ACR?

Are they "obsessed with the charts"?

A lot of people have Christmas parties and Christmas dinners which they make with Christmas songs on in the background to lift the Christmas spirit. I don't know anyone who has an Easter party or Easter dinner... The party bit also applies to Halloween

I think at Christmas there’s a very easy large selection of songs to just put on in the background by default. Easter doesn’t have that so people just don’t bother at all

Always thought most people had an Easter dinner yday and we had generic music on while eating.

Holidays always have lower streams

Same as Sundays

Its the same rationale

Less commuters, less streams

That would explain the rise in streams for Addison Rae yesterday.

I'm brave and say that people don't really LISTEN to Christmas music as much as charts indicate. Most of the consumption is just playlists being played on the background during family time/Christmas preparations etc.

Easter does not have that tradition at all (although Judas should be played non stop :p )

And ‘Bunny is a Rider’ ❤️

I know a lot of people were doing this maybe they were just listening to the radio and not a generic playlist 🤷

love Billie and Birds of a feather is a great song

but nearly 1 year in the upper Spotify and currently #3 is too much ☠️

Its cause of the direct message of 'I love you till the day I die' in the chorus, which can soundtrack many things online.

Surely not when Bad Guy exists!

Suspect "bad guy" and "lovely" have it beaten in most places for now, but it's en route to changing that in the coming years.

Pretty much. It's one of the biggest streaming hits ever (passed 2 billion spotify streams in fastest time, before record was taken over by "Die With A Smile"). It's still #2 on Global spotify and may even have a chance of overtaking "Die With A Smile" to take #1 again. It's at over 2.4 billion streams and will overtake "Bad Guy" (~2.7 billion) this year and "Lovely" (3.2 billion) most likely next year.

We'll likely see the song get a decent boost when her tour finally hits the UK. She's doing 6 days at the 02 in July. Also I think it may see a bit of a boost in the summer as it sounds more summery to me.

In UK chart sales there’s a fair way to go: “Bad Guy” 3 million and “Birds Of A Feather” 1.6 million. But that’s after 6 years for the former and less than 1 for the latter.
