I imagine it's already been mentioned but Madonna's run of 35 consecutive top 10 singles will surely never be matched!

EDIT: Oh, I mentioned it a few months ago just at the top of this page. I really should check before I post things lol As y'all were!

She's had 64 in total.

She should've slotted in a neat middle-8 on 'Rein Me In' when she had the chance!

Even Madonna's second consecutive run of top 10s (17 before 'Love Profusion' broke it) must be pretty up there itself!

With the current turnover rate we could see this record be broken in 2026! Manifesting Noah Kahan at number one this week now 😂

It depends on what we count as singles, but maybe a scenario where an artist scores 3 top 10s on every album release week, doesn't do any collabs and doesn't ever have any other songs from their albums manage to chart could beat Madonna one day.

Maybe an artist who releases multiple albums a year and is really frontloaded or something (so they don't have to worry about a 4th track charting low as they don't last long enough to hit ACR).

The other possibility is another Glee Cast situation where an artist releases 5+ singles every single week but they're so popular that the top 3 always debut top 10.

I don't think it's impossible for Madonna's record to be broken but it would definitely take a very extreme, and lucky set of circumstances which are so unlikely.

But not from her first single as after "Holiday" two singles peaked outside the Top 10, " Lucky star" @ 14 and the first release of "Borderline" @ 56.

I think the most weeks at No.1 on the singles chart will go to Wham unfortunately at some point, its just a question of when (unless they change rules). Christmas songs aside though I think something new beating 18 weeks is a longshot but I wouldn't entirely rule it out RMI has shown that songs can keep dodging ACR for months on end, again unless they change the rules.

Most consecutive No.1 singles be a female artist I can't see being broken due to how songs are released these days, although Sabrina came close to equalising. Same with No.1 singles off an album, I think nobody has had more than 3 recently (Sabrina and Ed). There's some bigger records I can't see being touched like fastest selling single/album also.

#1 single as part of a quintet, quarter, duo and solo - Melanie C. Will be a hard one to beat as you have to be in a 5 piece and 4 piece band. Maybe a One Direction member could achieve it like Harry Styles if he had a successful duet?

She couldn't even get a #1 as part of a trio though! Popstar? More like FLOPstar kink

(also what Bror said)

She should've slotted in a neat middle-8 on 'Rein Me In' when she had the chance!

I thought Robbie Williams would also be in this conversation (sans a trio) until I remembered that he was the reason for Take That going from 5 to 4 lol

Although of course that makes Gary Barlow having clocked up #1s as a soloist, trio, quartet and quintet AND with an entire ensemble. Plus he was close to doing it as a duo with Shame.

How many members Destiny's Child had when Independent Woman was a #1? If 4, Beyoncé would have quintet, trio, duo and solo.

That was their first single as a trio!
