CowTzy is behind the most recently released song in this contest - British eurodance singer Annerley's 'Save Me' came out as an under the radar release in 2021, but her commercial heyday was in 1999 when, under her former artist name Ann Lee, she got to #2 with '2 Times'. She's been a top 10 threat throughout most of the reveal but has faded in the home stretch and dropped down to 12th.

And that could just be the death blow for The Psychedelic Furs, they get a point here but 7 points go Alphaville's way giving them a 15 point lead again. It's still Army Of Lovers 3rd but another medal for Modern Talking moves them very close behind in 4th, while a medal also going to Classix Nouveaux sees them finish very strong in these late scoreboards as they're in the top 5 for the first time, up 8-5 and knocking The Icicle Works back down a place to 6th. Another song gets its first 12 (18 out of 25 songs have now received one!), Young MC nonetheless only lifting 1 place to 16th as a result. Yo-Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin at last get a second vote and more than double their score but it's not enough to lift them out of the wooden spoon position.

Thanks Cow for the highest points yet for Zager & Evans also!

  • thanks y’all and Blobby Brer for the fun reveal xx I know alphaville was a bit of a loophole option with forever young being a hit by any definition besides uk chart peak but the song was too good to

  • As mentioned in the voting thread, I am familiar with the Nirvana song 'Love Buzz' (love the Bleach album) but had no idea it was a cover! So that was a fun discovery. I liked the original version eve

And... that's it, because unfortunately !!! didn't submit votes and we don't have any guest votes, sorry if that's anticlimactic! Her votes couldn't have changed the winner anyway and a 33% deduction doesn't even change the position of her own entry. Said entry comes from American alternative rock geeks They Might Be Giants whose big hit was 1990's #6 peaking 'Birdhouse In Your Soul', though they came very close to a second top 20 hit in 2001 with Malcolm In The Middle theme 'Boss Of Me' peaking at #21. Their entry here predates their chart hits, 'Purple Toupee' coming out in 1989 and not charting anywhere. It's not made much noise throughout the results unfortunately and finishes 3rd from last.

(oh and let's clear out all of that Blobby infestation - he's really been nothing but a nuisance as a co-host -_-)

Congratulations to danG who officially clinches a first victory in this contest, and here's our winning song, Alphaville - Sounds Like A Melody wave

Congratulations to DanG. Well done and a worthy winner.

Really pleased to finished as high as I have done here. Keeping up a recent run of decent results.

I shall celebrate by seeing the Psychedelic Furs again next Sunday at Milton Keynes.

Thanks also to Brer for excellent hosting

Yay congratulations Dan for a first time win in this contest *.* Alphaville got my silver medal so I'm delighted with that winner. Pleased with all the podium in fact.

I did hope Helen Reddy could be a dark horse but that wasn't meant to be, glad she was at least top 10.

12th is way better than I was expecting for The Vapors after the SyncTube reaction so will take that!

Thank you for a wonderful co-hosting job, Bré and Blobby! I loved the theme and flair throughout.

clapwell done @danG

So happy I maintained my Top 10 streak, and much happier that it actually finished Top 3…I think this is my 6th Top 3 hit in this contest cheeseblock

Thanks Bre for picking an amazing theme and for doing a fabulous job with hosting!!!

Mr.Oizo so close to finish Top 10 as well </3

Well done Dan, I have heard that track before but it never really clicked that it was sampled by Cappella. Alphaville, like Freiheit, are an act I need to check out more by (20th is criminal for the latter). Seems Germany delivered some great 80s acts, with Modern Talking too.

Congrats also to Severin and Addy - Army Of Lovers are such a great band, not one of my absolute favourites from them tbh but a nice song and good to see it do well, they really deserved more UK success than one low top 40 hit.

Pleased to see White Town make the top 10, that was a really nice find!

15th is fair for Agenais, maybe it was a bit delicate to really fully cross over but it's nice to see a few people found a good discovery from it!

Quite surprised at Tracy Chapman and Paula Cole doing that badly, I thought both would be top ten!

Thanks for hosting Brer, really good theme and I found a lot of good discoveries I know I'll go back to.

Congrats Dan on the win! And thanks Bre for a really fun theme to get stuck into and the smooth rollout of results! Great contest!

Well done to the winner, and indeed 2nd and 3rd.

Happy to see my 10 pointer (Cicero) finish Top 10.

Still bamboozled over the low Paula Cole result.

And as for my song... Well at least I took part, eh? 🫣 I'm sure 2wo Third3 could still pop up on Lorraine next week to tell the world what they'll be doing next!

Thanks @Brer for running this. It was good to be involved. 👍

Congratulations Dan on your first win in this contest. Sounds Like A Melody was just outside my points but still a good song.

20th place for Freiheit, I wasn't expecting them to do well as they are not pop enough for the pop bloc and not indie enough or rock enough for the alternative/rock blocs. Thanks to those who did include them in their votes.

Thanks to Brer for doing an excellent job as host, particularly this evening's results presentation.

Great hosting, congrats to the winner. Glad my top 3 did well

Have to admit I found this contest frustrating. A lot of the same and unsurprisingly a lot of the more unique songs are further down the order (in my opinion)

Thanks to anyone who showed Paula Cole some love. An enduring fave of mine

So my Top 11 streak is finally over 😅. Still, 14th is very respectable and Nu Shooz did better than I expected.

Thanks to all who voted, especially Bjork for the 12. ❤️

Great job hosting Bre and congrats Dan on the win. ❤️

Congratulations Dan cheer another great song from Alphaville (where were all these votes for 'Forever Young' etc. etc.... yeah I know it doesn't work like that). Pleased with that top 3 - in fact I voted for 8 of the top 10 with my top score from Mr Oizo falling just short.

16th for Young MC is fine all things considered, though it's my first repeat position here, and now my most popular position in any song contest on Buzzjack with this being my fifth entry to land there *_* Maybe I should have tested the veto with 'Blitzkrieg Bop', or one of the Joy Division songs I half-considered - I also thought of something else which might have been up more voters' streets after the voting opened, maybe I'll save it another contest here if it fits again in future.

Blobby interventions notwithstanding, thanks Bré for the hosting!

Well I'm very happy with finishing 7th with Cicero, especially considering I was only alerted to the contest the day before the deadline so I was scrambling to find something to send and my first entry was vetoed because Army Of Lovers had already been taken... I do wonder if the song I was going to send by them would have fared any better but I guess we'll never know. Thanks to the 3 (I think) people who awarded 10 points to Cicero ❤️

Great hosting as ever Bre and congrats on the win, Dan!

Ahh great, really happy with 8th for White Town.

I bought his album back in the day which is why I thought of Undressed for this contest. It’s quite a sweet little song so I’m glad it’s got me back in the top 10.

Great hosting Bre and WD Dan on your win!

Always nice to get a fresh winner - very well done Dan! And great job Bray.

Thanks for the couple of votes for poor Bobby and Yo Yo - I guess I went way too far out of the room with this one!

Congratulations Dan on another contest victory! As I highlighted in my post your entry just missed my top 10 but it proved to be a big grower on second listen. Seems I wasn't too far out with thinking Army Of Lovers & Classix Nouveaux would be up there but I'm especially pleased to grab a top 5 spot as well. Brother Louie is one of my fave 80s songs so it seemed a logical choice for me to pick one of their lesser 'hits' and glad to see it picking up some other big fans as well!

Shame Annerley couldn't quite make the top 10, that was a big standout for me. And especially sad to see They Might Be Giants as low as that with or without the deduction :(

In terms of the posters I thought were behind a few of the entires that didn't go so well. I had a feeling Addy was Army Of Lovers ('grats on yet another top 3 in this!) and Annerley would either be CowTzy or Wardy but I thought Jade was behind Zager & Evans and dandy behind White Town. And I would have put Bre perhaps behind Young MC had he not been specifically mentioned in the OP (as it would have been weird to thank yourself 🤣). Speaking of which this was a really fun thread to follow with the gradual Blobby takeover *_* great job in general with the hosting!
