There’s a “Theme From The Boiler” track on Spotify in case anyone like @Michael Bubré wants to put the (very cool) instrumental on their playlist but would rather not have the actual song popping up!

I did see that and was wondering what it was - as it were I have just put the song on my playlist anyway (because it is a good song!) so I'll just take my chance on the ~1 in 300 (and decreasing with each further week) Russian roulette of it coming on shuffle at an inappropriate time teresa

I won’t be able to join today unfortunately but will be continuing the reviews over Christmas!

Oop sorry for the late votes, kinda forgot I'd not already done it - don't know if I'll have helped with the closeness!

2 I already knew and 3 discoveries this week - Japan 3 for 3 on getting votes from me with discoveries now, Theatre Of Hate have one of my favourite discoveries across all the sessions so far and XTC also another great discovery (shame we won't get any more from them).

Next faves I already knew would be Soft Cell, The J. Geils Band, Iron Maiden and Daryl Hall & John Oates and next best discoveries were Kraftwerk, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, Electric Light Orchestra's 'Here Is The News' and I can't not mention Rhoda Dakar although it's a bit of its own thing.

This is the first week I don't think I've had any big favourites I already knew show up, so these were all new to me.

Bucks Fizz - My Camera Never Lies

Abba - Head Over Heels

Barbra Streisand - Memory

Classix Nouveaux - Is It A Dream

ABC - Poison Arrow

Visage - The Damned Don't Cry

Associates - Party Fears Two

Gary Numan - Music For Chamaeleons

Bucks Fizz - My Camera Never Lies (the best #1 of 1982 imo)

Shakatak - Night Birds

Monsoon - Ever So Lonely

Pigbag - Papa's Got A Brand New Pigbag

Japan - Ghosts

Altered Images - See Those Eyes

Shalamar - I Can Make You Feel Good.

Again I prefer the more high tempo and synth tracks. Is It A Dream is a great synth dancefloor-focused track, Poison Arrow another great dancefloor focused track. The Damned Don't Cry is more meditative but I like it too. The Associates very unique with their vocalist, Music for Chamaeleons has a great bassline.

My Camera Never Lies is a bit cheesy but I still really like it. Shakatak great jazz piano vibes. Ever so Lonely is a lovely song too. Pigbag good fun and Ghosts an unusual top 10 hit. See Those Eyes my fave from Aletered Images great indie track, and the Shalamar song a classic thorugh both them and Kavana in the 90s.

My RIP choice for Chris Rea would be Let's Dance.

For Perry Bamonte of The Cure, it has to be Friday I'm In Love even if that is terribly predictable.

RIP the football player John Robertson who died yesterday. He's mentioned in the lyrics of one of the songs we will be listening to on Sunday.

The 5 best:

Modern Romance - Queen Of The Rapping Scene (Nothing Ever Goes The Way You Plan)

Imagination - Just An Illusion

Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight (Live Version)

Pluto - Your Honour

Roxy Music - More Than This

The worst:

Bow Wow Wow - Go Wild In The Country

ABC - Poison Arrow

Associates - Party Fears Two

Monsoon - Ever So Lonely

Bucks Fizz - My Camera Never Lies

Abba - Head Over Heels
