Posted August 13Aug 13 Will probably run some of these weekly picking out a certain year for a bit to see how it goes lol.Starting off I'm gonna turn back the time to this week in 2010 and this was the full top 10 for it.Flo Rida Ft David Guetta- Club Can't Handle MeEminem Ft Rihanna - Love The Way You LieThe Saturdays - Missing YouYolanda Be Cool vs D Cup - We Speak No AmericianoNe-Yo - Beautiful MonsterTravis McCoy Ft Bruno Mars - BillionaireB.o.b. Ft Hayley Williams - AirplanesThe Wanted - All Time LowEliza Doolittle - Pack UpTinchy Stryder - In My SystemNew Entries / Re-entriesEllie Goulding - The Writer (new to top 40, up from 45 week before)Devlin - BrainwashedWhich ones are your faves and are there any you liked or didn't like that have changed around in your opinion now in 2025? Rankings are welcome!
August 13Aug 13 The production of Club Can't Handle Me is quite poppy by Guetta's standard at the time - its female vocal in the chorus is nostalgic though!Who would think Ne-Yo's producers Stargate would have got inspiration from Josh Wink's 90s anthem Higher State of Consciousness but it sounds like they did! Good tune!Saturday's Missing You is a very nice song! The Wanted's All Time Low is great the emotive anthemic dance second half of the song is almost preceeding the Swedish House Mafia - Save The World/Don't You Worry Child style. August 14Aug 14 Times were very different back then. I quite liked Pack Up at the time for being quirky and different, but it wore off after a while. Some songs here I haven't listened to in over a decade! 🙃
August 14Aug 14 Hate 'Club Can't Handle Me', and 'Missing You' is one of The Saturdays' worst (thankfully 'Higher' was a massive improvement)I remember this week very well though, I was about to move to London for a new job - had everything packed on that Sunday and then decided against it
August 14Aug 14 They were all tunes at that time (and some, for their time).Guetta at his prime years 2009-2012 IMO. 'Club Can't Handle Me' is one of his highlights!Always had a liking for 'Missing You' even if it wasn't exactly The Saturdays' best received track.'Beautiful Monster' deserves some more recognition. Still boppin'.'All Time Low'... the beginning of one of my all time high boy groups in the 21st century, The Wanted! Edited August 14Aug 14 by AllStarBySmashMouth
August 14Aug 14 Author I quite liked 'Missing You' as well and was hoping it would hold on to #1 that week. The video was very nice. Can see why it's not one others are too keen on though.Flo Rida's is fine and compared to what he would churn up later is an improvement on those (minus 'Good Feeling').'All Time Low' is a solid debut for The Wanted as well. I perhaps should have posted this week a couple of weeks ago as by pure coincidence when they were sitting on top.. the band All Time Low were new in at 100 😯Also quite liked 'Pack Up' back then too but now not quite as much and 'Love The Way You Lie' definitely deserved to be at 1 during that period but it made up for it being the best seller of the year.
August 14Aug 14 Nice idea! My thoughts on these songs:Flo Rida Ft David Guetta- Club Can't Handle Me - dreadful, this was one of the worst of this era - where them girls at was miles betterEminem Ft Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie - also never liked this one, very ploddy and overratedThe Saturdays - Missing You - make that 3/3 so far, this is one of their limpest effort buts the music video was at least goodYolanda Be Cool vs D Cup - We Speak No Americiano - basically a meme song now but don't mind it when i hear itNe-Yo - Beautiful Monster - now this is an absolute gem, in fact i loved all of his #1s except for closerTravis McCoy Ft Bruno Mars - Billionaire - j'adore! this gives such amazing nostalgia vibes nowadaysB.o.b. Ft Hayley Williams - Airplanes - fantastic track, definitely the pinnacle of the rap verse sung chorus fadThe Wanted - All Time Low - loved this at the time and still do now, they were more consistent than both 1D & JLS with their singles tooEliza Doolittle - Pack Up - another absolute fave from the time, even better than skinny genes which was also strongTinchy Stryder - In My System - meh, like some of his stuff but never go back to this oneEllie Goulding - The Writer - this was a highlight of mine from her album, was glad when it finally made the top 40Devlin - Brainwashed - no idea how this goes nor am I rushing to listen to it

All I Ever Wanted is the closest they came!
August 14Aug 14 This was a few months into the 'club banger' era where so many songs were 'dance act x' or 'rapper x' feat 'singer x' or 'rapper x', with a song about the club, and often referencing capital cities.I was gearing up for a move to Wales for a journalism course the following month so was just tieing up some loose ends at my family home, and it was also my last ever month working in the retail job I'd had for the prior seven years, so was a memorable period.Ah yes, now I remember what I spent my free time in this specific week doing...producing this mash-up of the Flo Rida song with the 90s Grange Hill theme (with help from former Buzzjack poster Hitstastic). I was particularly pleased with how well the middle eight rap fit together. The original song is a bit throwaway, and I initially thought it was Nicole Scherzinger on the female vocal! I do still hear it on the radio from time to time though. My other favourites in the top ten were Missing You, We No Speak Americano and Pack Up. Missing You I really thought would be the first No.1 for The Saturdays - and so did they; I don't think it was the first time they were thwarted by Flo Rida though, oops. I think it's a really nice production from them.We No Speak Americano was very infectious dance, and an intriguing one to get to No.1 here. And Pack Up was a charming use of a very old sample. Not too excited by the rest of the top ten but I do still listen to Airplanes, that was a nice guest vocal from Hayley and a good rap from B.o.B. I bought his album based on the strength of the singles.I liked the clipped string intro of All Time Low by The Wanted but didn't find the rest of the song that thrilling.
August 14Aug 14 Indeed I don't think it was!^ which was why it was funny when actually collabed yet that track only scraped the top 10! (Despite being better than most of their bigger hits)As for myself I was just over a month away from going to Uni so was working at Argos most days to save up and of course enjoying the odd night out having recently turned 18.
August 14Aug 14 Author Oh yeah 'The Writer is lovely as well. The first Ellie track I really liked a lot.
August 14Aug 14 'Airplanes' is the only of this Top 10 I'd choose to put on today. 'Love The Way You Lie' and 'We Speak No Americano' are good but maybe got played out. 'Pack Up' is fine but I preferred 'Skinny Genes' (which got a re-release with a bigger budget video after this but it wasn't enough for a return to the Top 40). 'In My System' is a Top 10 hit I have no recollection of whatsoever - there were maybe a handful of those each year in the peak download era.
August 16Aug 16 Not my favourite top 10 of 2010 by any stretch but I distinctly remember following it at the time and I think The Saturdays were actually number one for most of the week. Their reaction to only getting to 3 was captured in one of their documentaries IIRC.Also seeing Billionaire there - I’m sure an accidental early iTunes release prevented this from debuting at #1 or something (it looked like a dead cert pre-release). 🤔 I think that was another that fell to 3 by the Sunday.
August 17Aug 17 It was around this time that I had finished sixth form and was getting ready to go to college in September. I miss those days. 😔I remember all of those songs. Some of them I like and some I don't care about. There are a few that sound very 2010 and haven't aged well, like "Missing You" and "In My System".The song that stands out the most in that list has to be "Pack Up" by Eliza Doolittle. It's a guilty pleasure of mine. Edited August 18Aug 18 by montyj
August 20Aug 20 Author Rewinding to this week in.... 2002 this was the top 10 that week with ne/re-entries posted separately. Sugababes - Round RoundDarius - ColourblindRomeo - Romeo DunnDaniel Bedingfield - James Dean (I Wanna Know)Mad'house - Like A PrayerHear'say - Lovin Is EasyLasgo - AloneH & Claire - Half A HeartGareth Gates - Anyone Of Us (Stupid Mistake)Will Smith Ft Tra-Knox - Black Suits Comin (Nod Ya Head)(14) Snap Vs Plaything - Do You See The Light(17) Mary J Blige Ft Ja Rule - Rainy Dayz (35) B2K - Uh Huh(39) Amillionsons - Misti Blu(40) DJ Nation - Nukleuz Dj's-- Not a particularly vintage top 10 there for me but some faves in Sugababes and Darius plus Gareth's best song and I didn't mind the Daniel B song either.
August 21Aug 21 Good top 2.I really liked the Mad'house song at the time, thought it had the original vocal at the time but no.I Wanna Know is quite a good follow up from Daniel Bedingfield.Love that Do You See The Light remix - better than the original.
August 21Aug 21 So I would have been 10 when this chart came out. I wasn't actively following the charts until a couple of years later but I was aware of most of the big hits and watched the music channels a lot back then.Love that version of Do You See The Light, it was sent to one of the early Club Bizarres.
August 21Aug 21 Both of the 2002 and 2010 throwback charts have one clear highlight for me - 'Round Round' and 'Airplanes' respectively!Yay for them both being #1 hits.
